I Got Lung Cancer

What great news. Good news is always a welcome update.

Alan you are a great survivor and you are stronger than this cancer! Your story is inspirational to hear! You WILL get rid of it!

The letter was short and sweet. (!) Got it the day after the face-to-face meeting.

I don't even know you and tears formed in my eyes when I read that letter. When I had a lymph node biopsy and it came back negative, the feeling of relief and elation was immeasurable, it brings tears to my eyes to even imagine how you felt when you got that news...GAH I'm such a sap!

I'm very much glad to read that everything is still going well, Alan ..|

Here are some more Aussie hugs! (*8*) (*8*)

Alan;

Lung Cancer is so often a death sentence that you have every right to rejoice at receiving such news. Also - knowing your prior participation at JUB and the enjoyment you have brought to so many, along with the openness and strength you have demonstrated in your fight - I am very happy to salute your success. :D

Good on you - and every good wish for the future. You are a gentleman and a survivor - and you fully deserve to celebrate that! (*8*)

Thanks everyone! (*8*)

I'm so glad I'm still here to tell the tale! :D

Be careful Alan.

When that little blighter starts doing AUSSIE hugs you need to check

for your purse or wallet, even your bollocks are at risk not daring to

mention buttocks and his reputation there.

lol:rolleyes:.

I am so glad you continue to improve! Congratulations! :=D:

Alan--Any thoughts now on National Health UK? It is so often maligned, but seems to have performed superbly for you.

God bless you, Alan. Sometimes prayers work. I wish you much health and happiness.

And thanks for sharing with us all here at JUB!

My first post after lurking for a long time, but I just want to say God Bless you and I pray for a speed and full recovery for you!

Alan--Any thoughts now on National Health UK? It is so often maligned, but seems to have performed superbly for you.

Once I'd had my first x-ray, my GP was knocking on my door the very next morning!

I was seen by a chest specialist within 7 days. After a load of tests I was formally diagnosed a week after that and an appointment was booked with a surgeon to remove the left lung when I would be cured.

Unfortunately the tumour had attached itself to the aorta in the chest and they couldn't take the lung out successfully so I was stitched back up.

Next, a treatment plan involving 9 weeks of chemo and 20 days of radiotherapy. There was now a one in three chance of getting rid of it. It was still almost a year later before it shrank down to nothing.

I have nothing but praise for our NHS. Every nurse and every doctor I've dealt with have been kind, caring, friendly and professional. I had support at every stage of my treatment. And there are many volunteers who help out too, whether bringing me a free sandwich and a cuppa while waiting for the chemo to drip drip into my body (two hours of a job), or the people who came to my flat and brought me loads of equipment to help me round the house after I'd had the operation. Marvellous, marvellous people one and all. ..|

And my family. My brother and three sisters were there every single day I needed them. And it was for the long haul as it turned out. I love them.

So, rest assured, whatever you hear or read about our NHS, it is there for you when you need it.

I thank you, and welcome to posting!

I hope you haven't been tempted to light up again!

I did have a cigarette when my cat died, 14 months ago laika. And nearly passed out! And I have had the odd two puffs of my friends cig on a couple of occasions when having a beer but nothing more than that. My left lung is now full of scar tissue from the radiotherapy so I have to look after the good one these days.

I do get the urge occasionally (after all I was a smoker for 40 years) but carry nicotine lozenges around with me at all times in case of emergency. I've probably only used three of them this year.

Most of the time I'm OK. Two of my sisters who were smokers stopped with me at the same time so the thought of letting them down keeps me off the fags.

My best mate though still smokes like a chimney, (as do most of my friends) and I do get annoyed with him sometimes. I make him smoke out of the window when he's at my place but he forgets sometimes and lights up right in front of me.

But I'm not one of those ex-smokers that goes on and on about it. As time has passed it has got easier and easier. I don't really think about it much now.

Eh, with your recent health history, I wouldn't blame you for going on and on about it. Infact, I wouldn't blame you for literally kicking people out of your house ^^
