Just get the movers and have your friends buy beer to bring over. You will all be much happier. I don't move people anymore - I will be more than willing to kick in $100 towards a mover and bring over some beer for later - but no moving for me.

I had a boss who asked me and one of my friends to help him move once--we were there all day long, and had been promised dinner when we were done. He (my boss) said just as we finished up--"thanks--I'll have to owe you dinner at a later time--I am tired." :grrr: He was one of the bigger douches that I have worked for--never took us out either.

Honestly, who wants to help someone move?

"Hey! Wanna haul a bunch of clunky, heavy shit into a truck and then carry it up 2 flights of stairs for several hours?? You get a beer at the end!!"

Ugh...I should just hire movers.

You're a female and you don't have at least 2 or 3 Guy friends that can help you move? No boyfriend either?

The route of least resistance would be to sell or discard your unwieldy belongings, in that way freeing yourself from their weight for good.

That's why I prefer minimalistic living and Ikea.

good luck Trans, If I only lived closer. My friends always ask for my help when they are moving. I'm fast, strong and organized. Can't help it , it's the virgo in me

Good luck, blud! ..| :D

If I was in MN, I'd wobble over to help, but alas, I am a little out of reach...

I would suggest considering hiring movers if you and your friends aren't very strong or aren't very coordinated. I helped a friend move last year along with her gorilla of a bf. I don't know what suffered more damage, the buildings we moved out of/into or the furniture. ](*,)](*,)](*,) That fucktard went all neaderthal and would not listen to reason and think about how to maneuver the furniture through the stairwells. And of course he was only too proud of his accomplishments at the end of the day while my friend was obviously shocked and dismayed. ](*,) At least all her furniture was crap and already somewhat damaged (bought/sold several times on craigslist already).

Hiring movers is really expensive! Well, it seems expensive to me. I'm pretty frugal. Jason and I own a beat up truck, so we've obviously helped move our fair share of people. And we really don't mind. That's what friends are for. Pet sitting, cutting the grass while someone is on vaca, picking up mail, taking them food when they're sick, it's all a part of friendship--give and take. I'm sure you'd help them out too if called upon.

Good luck w/ moving. It's never a blast, but I hope it goes as smoothly as possible.

Doing a quick search for gay-friendly movers...

Found this:

College Muscle Movers

Fast, careful, friendly, trained, athletic, efficient.

Uh huh.

Where are all the big butch dyke movers?? Where can I find those???

I used these guys twice within the last couple of years because I hate moving too, and I don't drive. They were GREAT, and the visuals were nice also (if you're down with those types of visuals). I would describe them just as the ad did, but add "hot". Well, the two I had (same ones both times) were hot anyway. lol

Did you find them on Lavendar Yellow Pages? That's a cool site. But you're right--no lesbians.

they'll take one look at my dyke ass and realize I won't be leaving them a $300 tip for looking pretty.

C ! Yer losing your mind right now on account of that you're moving.

I happen to think your 'dyke ass' is quite attractive, btw.

Moving is one of the world's largest pains in the ass. HOW did I get this much stuff ? WTF am I going to do with it all ????

This will pass.

I hire movers. That way, I don't ask my friends for help and I don't help my friends move.

I hate to admit it, but this is another reason it's a good arrangement for me as well. Sounds selfish, and if someone really begged me I would, but I prefer not to. I'll get baked and clean the hell out of someone's apartment when everything's gone, but no upstairs/downstairs for moi.

Yep...good ol Lavender. ..|

I'm sure those guys are lovely and very nice, but they're out of my price range and they'll take one look at my dyke ass and realize I won't be leaving them a $300 tip for looking pretty.

You know, I'd forgotten that they didn't have to drive my stuff anywhere. They just had to take it downstairs and load it into a storage unit. So it was a lot cheaper for me than that. Good thing you found friends to help!

I have friends, relatives, relatives of friends, and friends of relatives, who call me at all hours for free legal info. Do people hit you up for free hair info/stuff? If so, make sure to get those folks on moving duty.

I have no qualms w/ seeking help, or giving help. It's all good.

It IS all good !

You find out who your REAL friends are on moving day....

(The ones with pick ups...) ;)
