    Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I hate auto-play videos in news articles

Do a search for AdBlock Edge for your browser. (It is browser-specific.) It eliminates virtually all advertising.

Unfortunately, for Firefox 42 it has, for now, been discontinued. I don't know when, or if, it might be available again.

My Email is there, and I don't click on any ads, either. I don't even see them except for the 'commercials' at the beginning of the videos. I don't get commercials at YouTube, either.

Have an email there as well...I no longer use the web-based interface at home (using an eMail program/software is so much faster & easier)
When I used the website, I'd AdBlock'ed nearly all the ads :) ... And I also have the 'NoScript' FireFox addon that will block all JavaScripl/Flash/etc by default (then you can selectively allow sites). and yep Yahoo mail does work without JavaScript! even though it'll probably complain the first time you login with it disabled...

My other Email through my Internet provider was bought out a few years ago by Microsoft. Since then, the spam has increased exponentially and the spam filters don't stop it. I go there about once a month or so to dump the spam and that's it. I haven't used it in ages. Yahoo is the one I use.

But fortunately it has been replaced by Ublock origin which is superior so far and light on system resources.
I looked at Ublock Origin recently (but it seems there was something weird about it, so went with 'AdBlock Latitude' instead)

I'm just saying with Yahoo, you can use a separate email program like ThunderBird or NetscapeMessenger (instead of accessing your mail through their website)

I woulda avoided the eMail that was bought out by Microsoft too LOL

I have Thunderbird. That's the one I don't use because of all the spam I get on it. I didn't know I could access my Yahoo account through it (if that's what you're saying).

Yep, you can access your Yahoo account through it :), and Thunderbird can work with multiple accounts.
Its fairly easy to set up...

When in Thunderbird go to:
Tools --> Account Settings
click 'Add Account'
select 'Email Account'
then it'll give these various options/settings, (not necessarily in this order)...
Your Name: (put in whatever you want it to be)
Email Address: (your Yahoo email address)
Incoming Server Type: (should be a few options, choose 'IMAP')
Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Username: (your Yahoo email address)
Security Settings: (there should be multiple options, select 'SSL')

When that's complete, go back to
Tools --> Account Settings
Select 'Outgoing Server/SMTP'
Server Name: (this will likely be set to the old ISP server, change to: smtp.mail.yahoo.com)
Port: 465
Username: (your Yahoo email address)
Secure Connection: (if its an option) select 'no' or 'none'
Then 'ok'...

If you don't want it to check your ISP email automatically every time you run Thunderbird:
One last time of...
Tools --> Account Settings
Select your ISP email account
Uncheck 'check for messages at startup'
Then 'ok'...

If you like the Thunderbird-Type program, but don't want to even want to see your ISP email (but still want to keep it accessible for those occasional times)
Download Netscape Messenger 9 (just the email/'Messenger' part, since the browser/'Navigator' part is really of no value these days LOL)
Setting up is the same as above :)

----
I use Thunderbird & Messenger, plus one other (3 different email addresses...all could be done together in Thunderbird, I just like them as separate things)

I find it annoying too. If I'm on a website, on a newspaper article, i'm prepared to read the damn thing I don't need a commercial and an insta-play video to read it to me.
