I hate cold sores!!!

I have two cold sores right now. I hate them! They prevent me from kissing guys.

Cold sores should be made illegal. :grrr:
 
Lysine tablets and lots of warm water (afew litres a day).
 
I have never gotten one--my ex use to have them all of the time though.

I don't get them often, thankfully, but when a coldsore begins to appear I just dip a cotton swab in some aftershave and dab it on. It stings a little, but it purges the skin of that tingling sensation and sets about the process of drying the coldsore out. It's an effective approach, I find.

I have no idea--I should have been exposed but so far I have not gotten one--I do get the canker sores on the inside of my mouth once in a while, but I have never gotten anything on the outside.

i think they are similar to cold sores.
 
Not really, cold sores are around the mouth, rather than inside


and are usually caused by some kind of Herpes virus

Canker Sores/Aphthous ulcers are caused by many other things, like stress, biting, or brushing too harshly, eating something that you may be allergic to, Celiac Disease, etc. These are usually INSIDE the mouth, and look like ulcers... which they are.

Since kissing is a prerequisite for anything else, I don't do those things either.
And I did do some research on that last night. Damn cold sores.

I don't put cream or anything like it on them, I'd rather let them run their course. These two will be healed in a day or two and I got them on Saturday, so big whoop.

To those who've never had them: I classify them as a 'minor inconvenience'. I may have to up that to 'minor inconvenience with side-effect' now that the no-kissing thing has come up.

And this guy's only in the country for a few days. :grrr:
 
I read that 80% of the population carries the herpes virus that causes the sores... so, naturally, one in five doesn't.

^ The link doesn't say that. It's the same family, but a different virus. One cannot cause the other. Also see here, heading 'what is herpes'. :)

Reduce stress levels? Hah! That's the entire reason why I'm having these now (that, and my immune system took a hit a little while ago). Deadlines man, deadlines! Hence also a noticable lack of sleep. Both will be corrected after Thursday, at which time the sores'll be long-gone.
 
Its herpes like chicken pox (and Shingles which I've had) but is a different form of the virus.

I get coldsores all the time I use cream and at the very least it takes the redness away and makes it scab up quicker.
