I ageee with the other two posters, Firefox does support standard web coding. It also is much safer to use than the bloated security hole mess that is IE.

I'll admit that firefox doesn't flood me with as much span and pop-ups as IE, though I run IE because certain sites (like myspace) don't reallyshow up so nicely.

hum...what is your web site. whats the problem with firefox? i thought some pages were optimized for IE and some were for netscape and firefox.

i like firefox. i get far fewer popup and stuff.

Firefox is the only browser I've been truly happy with - my family, too!

I have no idea what problems you have run into, but I love Firefox! It, to me is much better than IE, which I do use for other applications, but not JUB! I guess everyone will have a bad experience with whatever browser they use, but don't give up so easily.

I love firefox! The pages seem to load faster, there's fewer pop-ups, and it just plain rocks!

As a programmer I definitely support coding standards and deplore all the garbage code that's out there. However, as a user surfing the net, I just want something that works. At some point I ultimately have to resort to IE to do something that Opera (which is terrific) or Firefox won't. So I mainly just use IE.

Firefox hates CSS2, not to mention floating divs. :|

Netscape and Firefox are the same browser.

Strangely, my website works with FF but not with IE. But I still agree that FF is a piece of shit.

MySpace is a Microsoft company. Microsoft will do the impossible to make FireFox look bad.

FireFox is the best browser there is...

Some of the things I like about it:

- The many extentions and plugins you can use such as adblock (priceless).
- The automatic updates every few weeks that improve the quality and safety.
- It's much safer and has far less pop-ups and blocks everything annoying really
- The ability to add search engines for google, yahoo, wikipedia, cnn, youtube and many more...

Actually, Myspace is owned by News Corp, the parent company of the Fox News Channel, and the FOX TV network

I'm no expert on the net but my website with adult images is hosted by fapomatic and people who use firefox cant view the images at all , so there some problems there with compatibility , I just have to email them saying use anther browser .

Firefox is actually much much better than MSIE - MSIE doesn't operate to standards and anything Microsoft is open to security holes - why do you think patches are released for IE and Windows every once in a while and rarely any for Firefox? Microsoft rushes all their software to fit their unrealistic launch dates - they don't completely check for bugs before their software and OSes are launched, which is why the need for patches/hotfixes.

Also any Microsoft software is closed source, which means the source code of their software is not available to the general public, which means they get much less help from developers and the general public to fix bugs etc. Mozilla Firefox is open source, meaning the source code for their software is released to the public, which means that they can have help from developers to fix bugs etc. and there are some browsers out there (such as Flock) which use the core Firefox engine. I personally believe in open source, not closed source. Software should be free and available for anyone to improve on, should they wish to.

If you really want to get hacked, be my guest and use MSIE, the choice is yours - use a secure browser or use a buggy insecure one. I personally swear by Firefox, most of my friends use it, etc. The only reason I still have MSIE on my computer and haven't tried to get rid of it is that I try to author webpages to be compliant to both browsers (emphasis on Firefox though).

MySpace is not owned by Microsoft. Maybe you're confusing MySpace with Windows Live Spaces (formerly MSN Spaces) which is integrated with MSN Messenger (WLM)?

And "nerd cults"? If that's how you judge things without taking the time to understand exactly why some of us prefer one over the other, no wonder you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

People these days are so quick to judge others (or things) without taking the time to really understand why they do what they do, why they think the way they do, why things are the way they are, etc. Not one week passes where I don't see at least one person (on the net or in real life) being judgemental about something they don't understand and it's a shame that most people I've come across are so quick to resort to that.

Take some time to actually ask why instead of being so quick to judge things because you really have no clue about it or how it works. Educate yourself instead of remaining ignorant.

I used to be bullied when I was in school (and I was called geek/nerd, you name it) and now I'm the director for a webhosting provider. If it wasn't for people like me, some people wouldn't have websites. Think about that.

Yes, I'm a "nerd", a "geek" or whatever you choose to call it and I'm damn proud of it. If you don't like it, you can toss off.

It reminds me of a quote I used to use ages ago "You used to laugh and call us geeks, now your lives depend on us".

I used to be teased and namecalled when I was in school (and some of those names were geek/nerd/etc). Now I'm a director for a webhosting provider. If it wasn't for people like me, some people wouldn't have websites. Think about that before you label people/groups/etc.

If a website isn't working well with FireFox blame the webmaster for the problem....and make it FireFox friendly...

MTV just a few months ago made their website AND Overdrive FireFox friendly......this is a very good sign that Firefox is indeed taking OVER LOL

LAME PIECE OF CRAP BROWSER.

This thing totally butchers web sites.

What is it with these nerd cults promoting firefox? It F%&@in SUCKS!

If you're considering downloading it, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

sorry, Im just venting because Im testing my new homepage with IE, Netscape, and FireFox. FireFox is the only one that shows it funky looking. Ugggh.

That's too bad.

I like Foxfire. I was toying with the notion of trying Opera since it's now free.

I hate IE and Netscape. Even back in the days before there was a thing called foxfire, I always choose Netscape over IE.

oh cult of nerds and geeks huh. wow....take about alienating a whole subculture of ppl. You'd think that what you've been through, you'd know better! [-X

I love geeks and nerds! I think there very sexy. I was having trouble with my router this weekend (ended up having to get a new one...a D-Link...LOVE IT!) and the guy who was helping me set it up (my computer was not accepting it or something....it's all so techy. ) anyways he was a friend of a friend. 23, young....hot....no...adorable better word! !oops! Straight though

anyways he got me up and running and also fixed my networking problem with my vanilla Xbox! I turned to him and said "Man....thank you...If you weren't straight, I could just kiss you right now!! He turned beet red and was blushing...it was sooo cute. Thanked me for the comment and said your welcome..then left. not in a hurry...we talked alittle shop for a bit but face it fella....nerds and geeks make the world go round. Well muscle boys and guys with big tools are great eye candy...they can't fix my computer! :p

So for all you so called "Nerds" and "Geeks" out there...this one is for you!

"Live long and prosper and may the force be with you always!"

Remember....screwnutty thinks your all adorable! give me a call anything at ***-**** !

Ultimately, you as the webmaster, can choose to do whatever you want with your page, you don't have to support all the browsers out there. If you are happy with IE, then fine, stick with that. Common curtosey however, dictates that you do make a page that is compatable with at least the most popular browswers.

see it is easy.
firefox has almost no flaws when it comes to rendering proper html and css (i am not talking about hardcore stuff like the acid2 test here).
IE has MANY MANY flaws in very basic things. that's why people write crappy code to get around the flaws. and that is why firefox doesn't render it then - because it actually is broken. but that is not firefox's flaw.

check out this link:
http://www.mag-murphy.net/ie/
with both browsers, and be sure to check out the links on that webpage with both browsers, too.
