Particularly when some of one's most pithy observations are consigned to the ether forever.

I was so looking forward to watching one poster's efforts today achieve the glorious highs and epic lows that the subject matter promised.

sigh.
 
And watch out when opinterph is running Area 51. That's one reason I recently proposed using those old zip-erase boards. Stone no longer works.
 
Never crossed your mind the reason the threads disappear?

I can honestly say it hasn't happened to me.... But i try to not delve into the 'dookie' threads.... (lmfao)

Sometimes people have their bad days.
 
Another thing that happens is that threads get closed or cleaned up and a lot of the comments get PC'd out or PC'd left in. Anyway the prevailing tenor of the discussion seems to shift. from what I perceived to something different.
 
If we're talking about the same thread, I made quite a long post that required some research. But hey, odds are the info would never be accepted by the person it was addressed to, so be it.

The Mods have a tough job, and I've seldom questioned their wisdom in shutting things down when they need to be.

But I share your frustration. :-)
 
So I'm NOT crazy....threads DO disappear! I was finally about to post in the "Michelle Bachman/my mommy doesn't need fixing" thread now that I FINALLY heard so much about the vid that I had to watch it (elsewhere)....came here to add my two cents, and I've hunted for a half hour. No thread.

I was referring to a thread that criticised gay men for their lack of masculinity, their stereotypical "gay" behaviour, and a bunch of other great stuff like our obsession with HIV/AIDS prevention. :rolleyes:

Based on the few responses I saw, including my own, the thread was never going to last long.

Later today I will create a new thread to show some true statistics about HIV/AIDS and the gay community.

One of my friends has a thread which is virtually a mini-blog and it's delightful.

The thread about antique radios is doing well. I drop into it occasionally.

I'm interested the Ancient Mediterranean world and I'm always interested how others feel. I know there's a gay erotic component to that.
 
The only thing I hate more than seeing a good thread die is 20 threads on the same topic.

Take screen shots of threads and posts you think may disappear. That way you can have a record of what's going on.
