I hate straight guys (well some of them anyway)

Yesterday after my 3.5 hour Business exam I was hungry and tired, and just about to go get something to eat, alone as usual. I heard my bathroom-mate and some other people on my floor talking about going out to eat as well, so I decided to go with them. Wow, it was bad. I've never heard the word "fag" used so many times in a half hour period. Basically, right from the start it was homophobic remarks galore. One of the guys accidently got a Nestea Zero from the dining hall so one of the other guys said to him, "Whats with the Nestea Zero? Haha, you must be a fucking faggot." Any little stereotypical thing and one of the guys would say, "I knew you were a fag!" They never said anything to me since I just tried to stay out of it. Even worse were the immature "Your mom" jokes. "OMG I slept with your mom last night and she kept coming back for more," or something like that every 5 seconds. I never realized this school was that homophobic. At least now I don't feel so bad about eating alone since I'd rather do that than eat with them.

On the upside, one of the guys was really nice. He's talked to me a few times before and seems really friendly. When the homophobic remarks were going too far, he said, "Wow, I can't believe how immature you guys are. You're acting like 5 year olds." Their response was, "Our jokes are so much better than a 5 year old could come up with." I wanted to say something as well, but I'm way too shy. I'm glad he said something.

Anyway, I can't believe how immature some straight guys are. Has anyone else had this sort of experience?

straight guys are a weird bunch......but then again so are we! you know I can handle the momma jokes...I can handle the sister jokes......but when they start with the fag jokes I just usually tell them to cut it out unless they want to mess with me...then I change my face to a love puppy look and say in a sexy voice..."you want to mess with me right?" that solves the problem real quick! course these guys are my friends sooooo I don't suggest you try this with strangers!

As for the nice guy that spoke up.... sounds to me like he's got an interest in you and is gay/bi himself. NO straight guy would step into his mates and stop a round of jokes.. its just not cricket.

Good point here! I don't think there are too many straight guys out there who would do just that. I've always acted homophobic amongst my mates up until a few months ago when I started to 'defend' my kind. It was a surprise to them......

Big time. Back in highschool, there was this one guy who associated with my friends, and every second sentence that came out of his mouth was "wow that's fucking gay", "holy shit that's queer", "fucking homos." He was just an asshole. A lot of guys that age in highschool are incredibly homophobic.

Well if you zero in on a particular group of students, even with all the rainbows around, "UofT is homophobic".

When this sort of thing happens to me, for some reason, it also all happens in one day or in a span of an hour or two. They get on the topic, and just keep going, trying to be "witty" about all the stereotypes they can come up with. In some cases, I think it turns into word-play with the general assumption that no one wants to be "proven gay". They stop thinking of what they're saying, they just blab whatever comes to mind.

I sometimes fall into these jokes too...except I'm the one "pretending" to be gay, confusing the hell out of whoever I'm talking with (who I'm not out to) and then things either get awkward or funnier and less offensive. Then comes the strangest thing straight people do: saying "Don't worry, I don't think you're gay"..."but I am..."

But I'm sure the whole school isn't like that. Usually when one of the people in a group is out it tends to change a lot (at least in the groups of people I know). Now at university at least I'm seeing a lot more straight guys close friends with out gay guys, which wasn't very common in highschool for me. I don't know how many go to Pride Parades with them, but good friends is a start.

I just try to bitch back and say all straight guys are stupid or something. I mean it's fair game if they start telling stereotypical jokes like that. In other words, fight back... I eat straight boys for breakfast (not literally) They ain't so tough. I can wipe the floor with them.. but also, keep in mind that them making fun of you is a way they're dealing with it and it's their way of trying to understand you (albeit poorly) or trying to AVOID understanding you because it's too awkward for them and they have their own issues to work through. They're intimidated by your intelligence and your superiority.

And also? The gay community doesn't help things much by worshipping straight guys and wanting to see them jack off and stuff. Puh-leeze. It isn't really that erotic, it's no sense in being attracted to somebody who can't be attracted to you back. Also, they suck (and not in the good way) they don't show enough passion in bed. (I'm not talking about romance, or sentimental shit like that...they just don't get really into it..they lack the raw, primal urge when they're around other guys...) So yes, people are sadly mistaken if they think being fucked by a straight man is more 'manly' or whatever.

With that said, yes, gay men can be just as bad...everybody can be. But just fight back. =) Or get somebody to defend you and kick his ass for you, that's what usually happens to me.

I prefer having a diesel dyke bodyguard that roundhouse kicks straight men in the head with an angry, lesbianic rage. I <3 stereotypical lesbians.

THE POWER IS WITHIN YOU. It doesn't help that the meida portrays us as kind of weak...ugh I hate that. I pwn straight guys everyday and don't take any names. (the ones that deserve it at least)

I highly doubt he's gay, though you never know. I'm not sure whether he made his comment during a your mom joke or a gay joke. They were kinda going on at the same time. He just seems like a really nice guy.

And they had no idea that there was a 'fag' among them and I'm definitely not ready to come out, so that's why I didn't fight back.

Haha, don't take that literally. I just needed a title. I've met many nice straight guys in my life. I only hate the 3 of them on my floor so far.

im not prejudiced.i dont love all gay guys cos they are gay.
i also said i have a very nice straight friend.
but come on,why should we let them make jokes about us?
