  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I have a black dog that I want to get rid of

While the possibility of imaginary black dogs alway piques my interest, my previous comments stand....even an imaginary black dog deserves an apology for this tasteless posting.

I think the anger is a positive sign.

While you've been ignoring it or coping or managing with it, it's always been there, lurking in the background. Now that you're feeling more passionately about it, more proactive, then change is possible.

When you're in the absolute depths (de profundis) and things couldn't possibly get any worse then the only way is up. Presumably you have medical help?

Since September I thought I had seen the last of it, I had managed to carry on without it blocking my path.

Last week, I stood in one it's turds that it had left on my doorstep and I knew it was back.

It follows me everywhere. It's at home with me, it turns up at work with me, it follows me into the bedroom, it even wakes me up in the middle of the night. Some nights I can't sleep because of it's incessant barking, growling and howling.

I have tried drowning it, drugging it, smoking it out, hiding from it and shouting at it.

I have tried to palm it off on people close to me - using fair means and foul, but nobody wants it.

So if anybody wants this black dog, they are welcome to it.
It's your black dog.

Drowning, drugging, smoking, hiding and shouting won't frighten it away.

Figure out how to use it to your advantage. Make peace with it. Live with it.

I sincerely hope it's a metaphor, real dogs are for life, not for Christmas.

I think once you've told your black dog that you apologize and that he deserves a far better master than you, he'll get the message and look for someone who can really give him the affection and attention that he needs and deserves. There are lots of worthier masters out there; many who are posting to the jub boards.

oh good lord people

black dog.... depression

its a brit term taken from churchill

uggh

Ben i feel ya buddy... i have been there myself for a few months

NickCole is right though,...

it wont go away like that

you have to use it to your advantage and let the process of dealing with it propell you into a new era of life

All this because of the first track on Led Zeppelin 4 ?

I digress.

Ya know, Ben, sometimes dogs get better with some professional
medical help.

I mention it only in passing.

Sometimes you have to get really angry about it before you can work it out of your system.

Have you given your black dog a grooming lately? maybe it is a gray dog but is so dirty that it just seems black. I also think that if you gave it raw juicy meat every once in awhile, it would be a lot better behaved.

Otherwise, how about renting 'Old Yeller' and sitting down to watch it with your dog. it might get the point.

I find it hard it to believe that there are so many stupid fucks on JUB who are totally incapable of seeing that the 'black dog' is a metaphore. For fuck sake, think before you post, you brainless twats.

It is not entirely obvious when you are reading text off a screen. Had someone said it person, then I guesstimate most people would understand he's not talking about a living breathing pet. And I can totally understand some people's reactions, in the odd chance he was talking about a real dog.

If this is your black dog, donate it to the Edward Scissorhands Foundation.
