If you were to start your own small business, what would you do?

Your choice must be dependent upon your desires and should not be determined by profit-margins, statistical trends, or any of that mumbo-jumbo. We have all heard the advice that it is best to do, not only what you understand but also, what you love.

I want to open the GREATEST strip joint the world has ever seen!!
I don't know why but I can totally see myself running the neon-enshrined titty bar off the highway leading to the airport. This has been on my mind for a long time and I don't dare to self-analyze myself, ha. Why would a gay man want to be surrounded by giant, enormous, voluptuous breasts? I'd rather not know that answer.

So, in all seriousness, what would you do?

A gay & bi cruise ship, no clothes allowed once land was out of sight... clothing optional at .5 k from shore.

Since you said profit margins aren't a concern, I'll assume Bill Gates gave me a billion and said do something good with it. In that case, I'd take gay guys on cruises who normally couldn't afford them -- especially total hotties that turned me on!

I'd like to run an independent press, either books or some sort of monthly publication.

A small book store where people could sit and read, have a coffee or tea, or just browse. A lot like a Borders but on a smaller scale.

The world's most awesome musician's supply store. Fantastic instruments and amps and stuff at unbelievably good prices.

Take that, Manny's Music and Sam Ash, you legends you!

So, everyone else, except for Ronnie H, likes books, antiques, and coffee - or innocent fun in a general sense. What the hell does that say about me and my titty bar?!?!

I have my dream business.....I guess that I would like it to be on a larger scale. Large enough to pay my bills, have money in savings, and with good employees so that I could take a couple vacations each year without having to worry that things will not be taken care of properly. That would be the next step. I would also like the business to do more in making a positive difference. It already does that....but I would like to do it, again, on a larger scale.

I want to have a gallery and studio where I can make and sell my own pottery. And sell the work of others.

If you lived in Palm Springs, you could sell your stuff at the local farmer's market. They have lots of artists there. It would be a good way to get started. Maybe there is something similar in your area???

I would like to own a historical old building in a trendy tourist spot, where I could live on the top floor, and have an "Organic Cafe" downstairs.

All of the ingredients in every item will be grown on my farm, and come from other organic vendors.

On certian nights I'd open up the place for live music, and poetry readings, and the walls would be decorated with art from local artists, and it would be for sale. The place would be complete with side walk dining for people watching.

:D

chatolandia, you could have a shop on my dream cruise ship!
Centex, get your building in a port city, and I'll bring the customers!

Hey -- a new dream: a world-wide conspiracy of JUB businessmen working together..... ..|

plant nursery. sure, books/coffee/tasty food/art/antiques would be a nice sideline, but i like to nurture green things.

homemade treats made with organic green butter would be nice, too - particularly if i could afford to donate to hospices. but that's not legal ;)

a nice games shop, where the new and innovative, and the old classics retooled as objets d'art, are center stage and the massive market chrunchers like wizards of the coast and hasbro are relegated to musty back shelves.

That sounds awesome....I want to go!!!!!

I love cooking Indian/Asian style curries, so for me my dream business would be to operate a take-away curry eatery, called the Hurry Curry.
