Dress nice but not too nice.
Be polite.
Smile.
Say you're not afraid of hard work.
Keep looking for a better job.

Way to reach for the stars.

Yep.

Dress nicely, lots of eye contact, good posture, shoulders back and all that good stuff...

Speak with confidence and authority:

"Yes Sir ! I'm looking forward to working in this crap emporium !" ;)

wear a nice long sleeve shirt and tie with black dress pants. ..|

Shave, shine your dress shoes and wear black socks. Some check for socks.

Bring a copy of your resume. Arrive a few minutes early.

Greeting the person interviewing you by shaking his hand, while making eye contact.

And good luck. :gogirl:
none of that is needed with a interview at Target.

just dress nicely, answer the set of questions she will utter from her booklet to the best of your ability. they usually make you wait a long time and you will be interviewed by two people usually.

Wear your nicest clothes. Shave. Cut your finger nails. Comb your hair or make it look presentable. Wear the best shoes you have and if your hired, you need to buy a decent pair of shoes that will support you and your feet for standing 8 hours a day!

Speak CLEARLY. Speak good English with complete sentences and thoughts! Fill out the application form legibly!! And be polite even if you are nervous!

Good luck mate!

I agree--dress nicely. While a shirt and tie may not be necessary it certainly is a nice touch. It will set you apart from the other applicants and help them remember you once you have left...|

Shame on those of you making cracks about someone going for an interview at target[-X You are being totally rude and out of line! Just because target is not a place you feel is worthy of working for doesn't mean mean it is a bad place to work with lots of opportunity for advancement. No I don't work there, if I needed a job to pay the bills I would consider it though. It is better than sitting back and collecting welfare!:grrr:

Sorry for the rant dude but it had to be said!! As for you. Besides dressing nicely, be relaxed and confident. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Eye contact is also important!!

Good luck--let us know how it goes!!(*8*):gogirl:

Target is a ok place to work. It is very easy to progress in the company and make a awful lot of money. Still, I hate working there seeing how I am a cashier, and well.. yeah

As a guy from the UK can I ask what Target is?
Target is a upscale version of Walmart. They are heavily into charity work and helping the community one of their stores are in. And they actually treat their employees with decency.

People tend to like Target FAR more than Walmart and see it as a very good place to shop as opposed to everyones loathing of Walmart. Although I am sure there are people who don't trust any form of big business, so yeah.

Any tips and advice anyone?

thank you

1- If they make you wait, leave-I waited almost six hours and I was the only interview scheduled for the day.
2- Don't be upset if you get a rejection letter the next day. I'm convinced they send them out the day before the interview.
3- Just relax and try not to let the two interviews with the endless string of questions frazzle you.

Yes, I speak from personal experience.

Listen, newboy, perhaps before you go mouthing off this way, you should share with us where you earn your paycheck, if, indeed, you earn one. No one should belittle someone for trying to get a job. Would you rather he live on the dole? Your post is ignorant, disrespectful and rude. I expect better from you in future. I believe you owe your fellow JUBer an apology--here, in the thread. I will be checking back.

I worked at Target for about a year and a half. Definitely the hardest job (physically) I've ever had. If you work on the sales floor or in stocking, be prepared to do A LOT of work, for very little money. Cashiering isn't so bad but it has it's own drawbacks (dealing with the public about money is never pleasant). In contrast, working at JCPenney and another higher-end dept. store was a piece of cake.

Go anywhere and take anything but Target. Sorry to be negative but that was my experience; others may differ.

yeah but Target doesnt care. I went to apply on their online kiosk which is literally the only way to apply for Target. And I picked up the red phone to tell them I finished the application and they asked if I wanted the interview right there. So I did it, and got hired. Now if he is trying to work at Target corporate offices, than yes, he should dress up.

lol it is probably best. if he is applying for a executive team lead position, it might look better.
