If you do not believe in GOD or heaven and hell, should you recognize Christmas or participate in this fake holiday?
Christmas after all is the celebration of the birth of jesus.
Don't get me wrong I am not making any judgment on anyone, I'm just wondering.#-o

Any celebration of the transformation of our life for the better, could as well be celebrated by humanists and other like minded human beings, as well as those who subscribe to the birth of a saviour of human kind.

I rather suspect that characterising Christmas as a fake holiday flies in the face of its reality and its meaning for those of us who utilise this holiday to reconnect with old friends, acquaintances and visit family.

I may add that this topic rears its head every Christmas and usually creates an enormous outpouring of hatred, for Christmas and the manner that the original celebration has been warped to serve big business. This venting of venomous rants and ravings predictably speaks more to the life of the ranter, than to the original purpose for offering assistance to those born into material deprivation.

Of course it is our choice whether we spend extra money, or do as I do and focus on the basic premise of Christmas to remember those who are less fortunate than our self. Especially those who are homeless, poverty stricken and even starving. It should come as no surprise that the promised saviour was born into these conditions.

Originally Christmas was a Pagan holiday that Christians incorporated as the birthday of Jesus (He actually wasn't born anywhere near Dec. 25!) So celebrating a day of giving (and receiving) gifts and spending time with your family and appreciating them isn't anything to let pass you by. You never know when your family can be torn away from you, enjoy their company while you can.

Most people who don't believe in God or Heaven or Hell tend not to celebrate Christmas or Easter or other Christian holidays.

It sort of goes with the territory.

I believe in getting many-many presents and receiving huge credit card statements and gaining an extra ten pounds every-freaking year.

Oh yeah---socks are Not acceptable gifts.

Its Christmas. You dont have to be religious or Christan to celebrate it. Just think of it as a day where you meet friends and family in the middle of the winter and see how things are going. You exchange gifts and drink and be merry.

It was traditional like the others have said a pagan thing....a festival to party. Those pagans and there parties! :D Wish i could have been there!!

Bottomline, Christmas is whatever you make it to believe. For me its a time to see family, eat really good food. Drink and be festive and watch my nieces faces glow everytime i say Santa Claus! ;)

Keep the Mithras in Christmas!

...it IS in there. You just have to scramble the letters around a little.

I love Christmas....or Yule or the Winter Holiday...gift giving, sending cards, going to parties, the decorations and the general good mood ...........and Christmas carols, Santa Claus and Christmas Trees. Here in California it turns cool and (hopefully) rainy. Christmas is fun. Christmas is kitchy. Why spoil Christmas by pegging it to any sour religious dogma.....My second favorite holiday is Halloween.....then Easter.....bunnies and chocolate .....(!)(!)(!)
