Absolutely. It's almost a certainty for men of a certain mentality. For a range of reasons, it would be necessary as part of self-awareness and personal evolution.
For decades from the 19th through much of the 20th century, developmental psychologists wrote volumes about how adolescent boys go through an experimental phase where they try things. Of course, it matters how close the community is and whether the homophobia is dominant or not, as a young man may have more to fear from being "outed" as a possible gay from experimenting than the fear of doing sex acts naively and being reputed as a no-nothing by the local girls.
There's also the case of comrades in arms, where men do sex acts in isolation with other men that they use as substitutes for women. They then go on to be perfectly typical straight men with families after they return to normal society.
Among those who are not straight, there is a drive to define bisexuals and closeted homosexuals out of a general sense that if the stigma is shared with enough of the general population then it is defeated. Those mental gymnastics are not necessary. There are individuals who have sex with same sex partners out of convenience or necessity but do not prefer it and aver from it when able to access straight women. It's not like a criminal conviction. Having it on your record doesn't brand you.
What does one prefer? That is what the label is for.
Men can have shifting orientation. It's not proven genetic, only speculated. Just as gay for pay is a thing, so is expedient sex.
