Well, my groin has been very sore off and on for the last four or five days. I was begining to think I had a hernia, so I went to the Dr. and got sent to the hospital for tests. I then find out I have this condition called epiditimytis. Want to know what it feels like? If you're a guy have a friend kick you in the balls. I have never been in this much pain in all my life. Doctor told me I will still be sore for a few more days before the antibiotics fully start to work and gave me some vicodin for the pain. I would like to know how the hell I got this. Apparently one of the causes is when you have to pee and hold it for to long, and the other common cause seems to be inflammation and then infection due to having to much sex. Im sexually active with my SO, and we are exclusive to one another so I know its not an STD. All I know is this is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever had and most painful thing I have ever had. Okay, I hope I wasnt to personal with this post. Anyone ever have this or have a suggestion as to what I can do to speed up the healing process?

Ouch, indeed.

Most cases of epididymitis are not caused by STDs. They are usually caused by a UTI or prostatitis that went untreated and eventually worked its way through the genito-urinary system.

Take your antibiotics. Take your pain meds. You can also take an anti-inflammatory like naproxyn or ibuprofen along with the Vicodin. Try to rest and if necessary, place a test a cool compress under your testicles to support them.

Your partner may also need to be treated with a course of antibiotics too.

I dont know about the UTI as I have not had any symptoms of one at all, although one thing I do sometimes is hold my pee until Im home, I dont like public bathrooms because of their uncleanliness. I think that may have something to do with it and the fact I have a lot of sex with my SO is part of it.

What you have described is exactly what is typical of silent UTI. Men tend to be more aware of UTIs because they have a long urethra and will feel a burning sensation during urination. But it is entirely possible to have a UTI and not be aware of it until it reaches the prostate, the kidney or in rare cases, the epididymis.

The natural flow of urine does help push bacteria in the end of the urethra outward. This helps prevent UTIs. So while holding your urine didn't cause the UTI, peeing more often may help reduce the conditions that allow bacteria to move up the urethra.

Your partner should be tested also. There are some bacteria such as chlamydia that can be transmitted back and forth betwen partners. The only way to stop the transfer is to treat both partners at the same time.

Had the SO tested today at the dr's office and he was clean. Luckily our office is open on Saturday's. Told the dr. that I was still in pain and have no appetite, he said to give it until Monday and if the boys are still sore that I may need a referral to a Urologist or some stronger medication, although the stuff Im on now makes me hurl as it is so I dont know.

If you're throwing up after taking the medication, then you're probably not absorbing it.

You need to talk to him on Monday and let him know that you aren't able to tolerate the antibiotics. There are others that he can try that shouldn't upset your stomach.

unfortunately I have had this a couple of times. It took about a week of being on the meds before I started feeling better. I found that taking a hot bath and wearing briefs instead of boxers helped. Best of luck. Hope your feeling better soon.

I had that a few years ago. Sounds like yours was a little worse than mine. Hope you are wearing tight and very supportive underwear - that really helped me

Had this a few weeks ago. No fun at all. I started feeling better after 2-3 days of Cipro and pain killers. Pain was gone within a week.
