I grew up in Cairo, Egypt and was presented to the former Shahbanoo or Empress Farah Diba of Iran and Queen Nour of Jordan. I had the good luck to spend time talking to both of late King Farouk's wives, Queen Farida and Queen Nariman at social events while I was in school. The two Egyptian Queens were quite elderly and yet were very gracious women. Both the Shahbanoo and Queen Nour were breathtakingly beautiful and yet had the grace and charm to make a teenager feel at ease in their presence.

I met King Michael Of Romania (exiled since the 40s) in Switzerland, and a bloody nice guy he is too!

And i can't recall how many times i've stood at the side of the street with a flag as Charles and Di drove past when i was a kid - funny thing is they never actually stopped in Newport, just sped through asap!

Our king Albert quite often, the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg, Prince Philip of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, and many others.
It is only when you meet royals that you realise how exquisitely polite they are !

I always forget it but fabiola is the wife of albert, and paola was maried to boudewijn. or is it the other way round?
