Because satan is haunting in my dreams again, and only holy water keeps him away. I was hoping we would finally leave me alone, but looks like he was just taking a break. Story of my life. :grrr:
 
I've never attended a catholic church service, and I think holy water is just water. Evian or Perrier with a different marketing angle. And yet my dreams are peaceful.

How can you be so sure it is Satan? Maybe you're just stressed out?

I can't explain it. It's a really hellish feeling like no other. Whatevz though, I always wake up when it starts. It's still horrible though. Btw holy water is free.

odd story...

i was brought up catholic (no longer am religious though). i remember one time in sunday school, we were assigned a project where we had to watch a movie and discuss christian perspectives on the themes in the movie. i think we were around 14-15 years old at the time.

one of the groups was assigned philadelphia. their report on the movie was along the lines of "jesus teaches us that we should love and respect gay people and be accepting of their sexuality, blah blah blah". and the sunday school teacher (some old woman) agreed and said it was a great report.

then one of the guys in the class says, "but doesn't the bible say that homosexuality is wrong and a sin?" most of the people there, including the teacher, are completely stunned. he opened the bible to leviticus and showed us the verses that say that. the teacher was completley baffled by this, she had no idea that was even in there.

goes to show you how little the vast majority of christians actually know about the bible.

Catholicism would be nice if everything wasn't a sin and everyone could go to heaven.

Since accepting my own sexuality, the hardest thing to deal with is seeing mockery about God and the role of spirituality in our lives that a lot of gay guys make. It is not so much the self righteous judgmental people but the mockery from the ones that I myself relate to (homosexual). If you are Catholic, go see a GOOD priest, a priest who has not let the world take over his love for his people, and ask for spiritual direction. Go for confession. Try the best you can. It may not be a one time visit but several. I have friends who are serious Catholics and they may be dealing with the same or similar junk that we are and they always seem to make a good use of spiritual direction. You may be just confused or it may be evil oppression indeed but when we are sick we go to the doctor and we are in need of spiritual healing we should look for theologians/priests/pastors who we trust. As Jesus said "Your faith has healed you" so may it also be for you. Peace.

I think some "(homosexual)" people have good reason to do a little mocking. Not that I would ever condone it, per se. I used to be Catholic, actually. Seriously.

Anyway, don't feel too offended by it - it can be hard for some people to respect spirituality after a negative, possibly Catholic-related incident profoundly changes their lives.

Not that I think the OP or anyone here necessarily fits into that category... O:)
 
I started questioning the contradictions and impossibilities offered by religious dogma far younger than I was when I started to form any kind of understanding of human sexuality.

Anyway, I've had all kinds of fanciful creatures in my dreams, but I've just never assumed they're real. Dreaming of Satan seems to fall into that category too. An unpleasant dream, but still just a dream.
