Thanks to Noelie King of the JUB Technology Forums, I am now a proud member of the linux community. I tried a while back the traditional way, but it turned out way to bothersom, until Noelie showed me Wubi and now I have Ubuntu. It will be awhile before I get my full bearings on this OS, but it looks to be cool so far.

Only problem so far is the inability to use fullscreen on ******* and xtube. Does anyone know how to fix that problem?
 
installing stuff on ubuntu is confusing. it seems that it just downloads a folder and then thats it. i am trying to install a new media player because Totem isnt as fluid as WMP when I skip through videos. so yeah, what do I do with these folders full of files?
 
help please?

also, how do i get permission to let me send files to my mass storage device. it is sitting there on my desktop, but i cant transfer stuff on there and i went into properties and it wont let me change anything.
 
oops! well than I would like to think dfwjacker for posting Wubi and allowing me to finally get Linux. I still praise Noelie though. and thank you for the tutorials. I do need them.

Do you know what to do about not being able to use full screen on some video sites. (excluding youtube)
 
thank for very much for all those links. i think my might buy a subscription to a linux magazine and get more into it. right now, it seem Vista is alittle bit better than Ubuntu, but I have only had it for 2 days.

also, I wasnt able to figure out how to mount my mass storage device from the link. he gave instructions for kubuntu and I couldnt actually find the folder he was talking about in kubuntu. I am able to go into my mass storage device on Ubuntu, the problem is sending stuff to it. It says I don't have permission and I tried to change that, but the permission section is completely gray and I can't change ANYTHING.
 
grrrrr i try to open it with synaptic but it keeps saying that i tried to open it without administrative permission

it says this: You will not be able to apply any any changes. But you can still export the marked changes or create a download script for them.

i created a download script but i still cant find it. *sigh*
