I decided to pull the plug on cable tv to save me money. Most of the channels are full of garbage and reality tv shows that suck you in watching them but make you dumber at the same time. Cable news channels also suck like their network counterparts. I only enjoyed watching Discovery and History channels but you can't just pick and choose what you want to pay for. Now I just hope that I won't regret being without tv.

you had cable still?

silly boy everything you ever want is online

Good for you! I totally respect your decision. Good job--you'll probably be better of without TV. I have a friend who makes really good money, but refuses to own an "idiot box."

i had a very strict catholic upgringing, so i couldn't watch tv or listen to the radio when i was growing up.

at about 18 i watched some, but i've been living without tv for about 5 years now. everything i'm interested in watching, which is mostly movies, i just find online. i don't think i've ever watched reality television or any thing close to whatever they air now on regular television.

music i can't live without.

What I wish for is a pay-per-channel option. That way I'd subscribe to what I like and cancel the rest.

I'd be richer without cable, but, being virtually house-bound, television is usually the closest thing I have to human contact and company.

but you can't just pick and choose what you want to pay for.
And that is exactly what cable, satellite providers will need to start doing if they want to stay in business. They are still operating with an archaic model that offers only packages containing a bunch of garbage you do not want. Cutting off cable is actually a recent growing trend and with the bad economy, the trend will continue to grow. The providers are in trouble if they don't get with the times.

I have a love/hate relationship with my cable. The bill is too high, I watch 5 out of 100+ stations and the bill is too high. Cable would be a lot better and probably cheaper if you could pick the channels. I always complain but I have to have it.

I cancelled my cable subscription when I got connected to the internet. I'm perfectly happy with my "rabbit ears" and network TV. I've got about four shows that I watch with regularity, plus sports. That's enough for me.

My big bro has a dish - Direct TV which I affectionately refer to as dreck TV. So many channels, so little to watch. Too many reruns!

I'll be canceling mine this week too! Called in today but got called into a meeting before they answered, so I'll try back tomorrow.

I'm doing free trial of netflix right now, and it seems to have everything I need. That, and between school, work, volunteering, friends, and the like, I don't have tons of time to watch anyway.
