I just discovered the Sugababes!!

Favourite Sugababes songs:

Caught In A Moment (D-Bop remix)
Follow Me Home (either Mutya or Amelle version)
One Touch

I think all the past and present Sugababes have distinctive voices (even if Heidi overindulges sometimes). All of them bring different qualities to the music and as members come and go their style changes - Siobhan's alt influence has turned into the rockier style that suits Amelle.

As for Girls Aloud I quite like the tarty tanorexics. Yes, they are almost completely the product of their management and production teams, but they're quite good dancers and also have distinctive (if not particularly strong) voices.

As for All Saints - I just think the pop landscape had moved on and they didn't manage a Take That type of reinvention.

Funnily enough Jenny Frost is quite a good songwriter - I guess she should stick to writing rather than singing.

I remember when Atomic Kitten split and this song Hot Love was rumored to be Jenny Frost. I was laughing my ass off over how super-autotuned the voice was on it. I was thinking there is no way that's Jenny, her voice is too wraspy and thin. I was right, it wasn't her. Natasha has posted what will be her solo debut on her myspace. Nothing earth shattering but I like it, it's called Round And Round.

All Saints failed because they believed (as well as Parlophone) they had enough name recognition that they didn't have to start over and not promote themselves. They were horribly proven wrong. It doesn't change the fact that they have talent surpassing these younger groups. I remember the first time I heard their two albums and being surprised at how well written they were, especially since some of the singles weren't exactly pulitzer prize winning material. Their strong suit were always the slower songs and while the Babes and the 5 hookers are popular now, their "deep" songs are mostly cringe-inducing while I hold Shaznay's You, Pure Shores, Black Coffee, Never Ever, Dreams and especially War Of Nerves in high esteem.

They never had to resort to stripping or other tactics to sell themselves. Like tze said, the music of 1998-2000 was different (at least in the UK) to what is played now so there was no way they were going to have a huge following still, especially with just 2 albums (one which they didn't even promote that well since they split up over a jacket during the promotions). Look at how badly they all did when they each went their seperate ways. I do find it ironic that the Appleton sisters were the most successful outside the group than Shaznay and Melanie when they were considered to be the worst 2.
