The two companies have had a long standing relationship of cooperation where they've shared platforms and technologies. Mazda produces 4-cylinder engines for Ford and the reverse is true for 6-cylinder engines. Certain cars and trucks were created by one to be shared with the other over the years, so to say that Mazda is American and is basically Ford is misleading. There are several examples of these types of partnerships with global car companies (i.e. Nissan/Renault, Chrysler/Mitsubishi...)

No, that is a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury exclusive.
