I KNEW I smelt smoke! They tried to burn my house down!

Yesterday, I posted about being able to smell smoke. I just took some stuff out to the compost bin a few minutes ago and found this right outside my back door. If you look carefully in the close-up, you can see the red & white remains of a pack of paper matches:

No idea who would do such a thing, and it could have been very serious, but it's a scary thought that it happened so close to home!

Report it to the police. If there's an arsonist about, he could strike (no pun intended) anywhere...

Hmph report that over here and you would be prosecuted for wasting police time, I mean nobody died did they. But seriously it is worrying, whoever did this wasn't trying to burn the place down, it was too amateur, but the consequences could have been just that.

It was probably kids up to mischief Neil. But I would definitely report it to your local police department so that a record exists in the event that it happens again.

It's been reported and the police were around. We figure it was just some kid(s) who got pissed off because a short cut which used to run from one street to the next behind my place was closed off to pedestrian traffic and they now have to walk around.
