I know I shouldn't be, but I'm now genuinely scared of a Trump presidency

I had KIDNEY CANCER in 2003. This election has been FAR more frightening to me than even CANCER was. I'm pretty sure nothing has frightened me more (other than rare momentary events that were threatening in real ways) than this since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. That is a HELL of a long time ago.

A figurehead who happens to be able to nominate replacements for ALL Supreme Court vacancies that occur, though...possibly with the help of a compliant Senate that slams them through.

The US Government is also set up so that if two of the three branches are the same party, the third branch (in this case the Judicial - Supreme Court at the top) can be changed over as well, to exact COMPLETE control of the government. All that are needed, are some vacancies. The Republicans would have a head start on that, because there is already a vacancy which the Republicans are steadfastly and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY (at least, as constitutional SUGGESTION goes) refusing to fill it. Trump/Pence want absolute reins on their picks, the most extreme possible, which WILL pass muster in the Senate if it stays Republican.

We would then have a president, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch, ALL controlled by the most Fascist political party currently anywhere in the Western world. Let the exterminations begin!

As far as moving to Canada, SaskGuy, if he gets in and I don't move to Canada, it won't be from lack of trying. I've made SERIOUS efforts already. Even, most recently, I made sure I looked around in Saint John NB to "see if I could live there." (I could, but the snow they get is HORRIFIC.) Unless I want to WORK FOR THE REST OF MY GODDAM LIFE, Windsor (Ontario) was made utterly impossible to move to, because I would have to bribe Ontario $3 MILLION. I just simply will never have close to that. New Brunswick has a similar bribery program but it was $100K or maybe $300K or something, and I can deal with that IF I MUST...I simply do NOT want to commit myself to continue working until I die.

So yes I'm serious about it, but it's CANADIAN LAWS which make it virtually impossible for me to end up in Canada. Perhaps under Justin Trudeau, some of this stuff might ease up to a degree??

Why do they not let you immigrate? Canadians usually brag about how the welcome immigrants.

Refugees, Ben. Refugees. Immigration is entirely different. You should learn the difference between the two.

u guys are giving way too much credit to the office of president. the president is not a dictator. even if hillary lost there is a chance there would actually be less gridlock in congress compared to a clinton presidency. the only thing people should think about is the court, but democrats have been fighting that battle for 10 months and have nothing to show for it.
there is gridlock for years because of one thing--The repub party---the Democrats including Obama would work for compromise but the repubs block everything---it's pretty obvious. Obama put forward repub ideas and they rejected them. They have NO respect for the will of the people----elections and millions of votes for Obama meant nothing to these hillbillies. If nazi kkk supported fascist trump got in---they would have the whole thing and rape this country like they did for most of W's 8 years---when things got done---oh yeah, they got done all right---wars, financial great depression---The repubs support gridlock because it works for them---americans are too dumb to realize who is creating it.

I hope I am wrong..but I think his Russian friends might actually hack a state or two....and put him in the Oval Office....

His unnatural concern about voter fraud when the only people who have been hacked are Democrats and his constant projection of things he is doing on other people tell me that we might be in trouble.

He wants to make it look like it is a problem when it isn't...why????

He and Sarah seem confident about Michigan....the polls disagree...we shall see.

Michigan would make sense because everyone will be looking at Florida or North Carolina..maybe even Ohio or New Hampshire....and he needs to turn at least one blue state red....

Personally, the main reason why I hope Trump doesn't win is because I predict a huge bloodbath; there will be severe rioting everywhere, and I have some very good friends in the US who I don't want to get hurt.

Aren't you the guy that compared the USA to North Korea in another thread?

This article might appear amusing to a few but it speaks to the panic among many, who are investigating migrating to Canada should Trump triumph:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...te-CRASHES-Trump-takes-lead-major-states.html

I quote:

Room for one more? Canada's main immigration website CRASHES with Trump poised to win election
Users in the US, Canada, Asia and the UK saw an internal serve error
Google reported huge spikes for search terms such as 'emigrate'
'How to emigrate to Canada' also a popular search as Trump marched on

Only six more electoral votes needed, with Alaska not closed yet (I guess? - no mentions); and Wisconsin, Michigan, New Hampshire, one Maine electoral vote, Arizona not yet called. It's over.

I assume Arizona by itself has enough electoral votes, and Wisconsin is not called but is hopeless.

America has committed suicide.

There's the next time.

Assuming Trump triumphs, he'll be a one termer.

To everyone on this site with my friends let me be clear about one thing. This is mainly in response to a foolish lesbian woman who voted for Donald Trump because Hillary supported theocratic Islamic nations that kill gays. Let me be clear I neither like Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump and I certainly don't like any theocratic Islamic nation or any Abrahamic nation but let us be clear Trump has stated that he wants to outlaw gay marriage, to undue anti discrimination ordinances for LGBT people etc where as Hillary all though fickle will not do these things. The fact remains something that people namely these fluffy bunny let's all get along people fail to accept namely LGBT people who are keen on the Abrahamic religions. As long as the Abrahamic religions exist especially Christianity and Islam. Gay people's position in the world will always be precarious as these religions are clear that LGBT people and their identities must be suppressed and fought against even destroyed. So as long as these religions exist gay people will never have a stable place in the world. This is why I have always stated that I will never shed a tear for those Christians in Rome and Arabia and all of the persecution they allegedly received because if they have the power as they have shown ever since these religions were founded they will always without question attempt to destroy us. I am kind of in the doldrums and depressed about this but this is simply a fact and something I have truly always known.

Oh and before someone comes along here and say oh well my mother is a Christian and she accepts me for being gay and oh my family is Muslim and they are cool with my sexual orientation or gender identity. That is great but the bottom line is they do not represent the majority of Christianity and Islam and the Torah, Bible and Quran all mandate that LGBT people be put to death and the fact is that any time Christians or Muslims gain power those good family members and friends don't really matter and gay people are still put on the chopping block and this includes others such as Pagans, Atheists etc.

And LIVE from Morocco here's your first President Trump joke:

Q. In Donald Trump's first 100 days in office, what will the USA do?

A. File for bankruptcy.

The DNC, media, and the mentality of some of those on this site only have themselves to blame for their arrogance in shoving Hillary Clinton down everyone's throats and disregarding the Sanders voters.

From the Liberal voters' side, this is payback for the ridiculous amount of corruption within the party. I am sure Hillary is absolutely shocked right now, as are her supporters.

Clean sweep. Republican House, Republican Senate, and now the White House. Absolutely mind-boggling how the Dems could screw this up so badly. But at the end of the day, it came down to arrogance. And that was seen her on this site where you had people genuinely dismissive of concerns liberals had with Clinton and trying to award the cheating that occurred in the Primaries.

If Sanders was the nominee, he would have been President without a doubt. So this really is a referendum on the Hillary Clinton's, Debbie Wasserman Schultz's, Donna Brazzile's, and others of the world.

there is no next time. It is unlikely that the USA will ever have another president...unless it's Mike Pence (who may even be worse).

Cheer up there is the prospect of better times ahead should the Trump administration, and Congress work together.

...I am glad I am older now. I am gonna work for the secession of California now....gotta give it a shot. I know what is coming....probably can't avoid it anywhere in the world.....so might as well go out with self respect.

I don't think this comes down to Clinton and Sanders. Neither of the two won the primaries in a landslide and neither would have won them if the other hadn't run. The Democrats simply didn't have that one candidate that a clear majority was enthusiastic about from day 1. And neither did the GOP.

Sanders supporters should be thankful to Clinton. Now they have genuine opposition going into 2020.
