I know I shouldn't be, but I'm now genuinely scared of a Trump presidency

I don't think this comes down to Clinton and Sanders. Neither of the two won the primaries in a landslide and neither would have won them if the other hadn't run. The Democrats simply didn't have that one candidate that a clear majority was enthusiastic about from day 1. And neither did the GOP.

Sanders would have won. Polls showed him in a General Election matchup with Trump ahead by double digits. Hillary was never that close.

and the polls have now been proven to be so terribly inaccurate.

Keep repeating your mantra, and you might believe your own gloating.

The DNC, media, and the mentality of some of those on this site only have themselves to blame for their arrogance in shoving Hillary Clinton down everyone's throats and disregarding the Sanders voters.

From the Liberal voters' side, this is payback for the ridiculous amount of corruption within the party. I am sure Hillary is absolutely shocked right now, as are her supporters.

Clean sweep. Republican House, Republican Senate, and now the White House. Absolutely mind-boggling how the Dems could screw this up so badly. But at the end of the day, it came down to arrogance. And that was seen her on this site where you had people genuinely dismissive of concerns liberals had with Clinton and trying to award the cheating that occurred in the Primaries.

If Sanders was the nominee, he would have been President without a doubt. So this really is a referendum on the Hillary Clinton's, Debbie Wasserman Schultz's, Donna Brazzile's, and others of the world.

Stephanopolos gave some credence to this idea tonight when he noted that in a number of states the difference was made by serious numbers of Sanders supporters voting for Trump, not for Clinton, because one thing Sanders and Trump seemed to have in common was concern for the people "left out" of the economy, especially the recovery since the great recession.

(The irony is that Trump's policies as stated will just make that worse, shifting even more of the country's income from the lower two-thirds to the top few percent.)

Sanders couldn't win even the democrat nomination.
And his supporters were often GOP operatives in drag. Not a high point for democracy.

Often overlooked here.....for fifth columnists can be invisible to those dwelling in academic fantasy land.

Keep telling yourself this, Kabluey. Sanders pulled a large number of Independents and the Independents cost the Democrats the victory tonight. In General Election matchups, Sanders polled in double digits higher than Donald Trump, where Hillary was typically less than 5%. He would have won. Americans voted against a corrupt politician tonight. Not saying what they voted for was any better, but tonight's vote was unquestionably a stand against what is viewed as a corrupt politician and a corrupt DNC establishment who feel the rules don't apply to them and they can operate above the law.

You are spot on. Almost everyone admits it, but Hillary supporters.

It was a brexit vote.
The hangover comes later.

And LIVE from Morocco here's your first President Trump joke:

Q. In Donald Trump's first 100 days in office, what will the USA do?

A. File for bankruptcy.

If only we could. We could eliminate Obama's 9 trillion of new debt. Alas we cannot without doing great damage. So, we are going to have to struggle for generations to avoid a currency collapse.

Relax. Politics in the US is a pendulum which swings back and forth between Democrat and Republican. This was always going to be a Republican year.

There have been many Republican presidents as the nation came to be the greatest economy in the history of the world with generally the highest standard of living. Most wars have come about under democrat presidents; 1812, Mexican, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, ISIS, etc.
Republicans are the good guys. They work, pay taxes, raise families, go to church, start the new businesses, create the jobs, and are the first to enlist to defend the country.
Don't believe your own lies about Bush. He did not cause the recession. If you ask what he did the democrats will say that he tried to help too many families to obtain their own homes. Was that a bad thing? An evil thing? The president does not control every detail of America, and the experts watched the creation of the bad mortgages: FDIC, Comptroller, SEC, Federal Reserve.

So relax. This is a good thing,

This article might appear amusing to a few but it speaks to the panic among many, who are investigating migrating to Canada should Trump triumph:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...te-CRASHES-Trump-takes-lead-major-states.html

I quote:

Room for one more? Canada's main immigration website CRASHES with Trump poised to win election
Users in the US, Canada, Asia and the UK saw an internal serve error
Google reported huge spikes for search terms such as 'emigrate'
'How to emigrate to Canada' also a popular search as Trump marched on

Indeed. It was down for over 2 hours. It began around 11:00 PM.

Canada: Proudly accepting American refugees for over 200 years.

I think more Canadian refugees have come to the US than the reverse.

Name one.

Canada was built on American refugees. Thousands of American slaves made their new homes here. Thousands of Americans came to live in Canada to avoid having to fight in a war which the United States had no business fighting and stayed.

Canadians have moved to the United States, but certainly not as refugees.

^ That is true.

I'm gonna start renting out rooms if ya'll are interested.

To everyone on this site with my friends let me be clear about one thing. This is mainly in response to a foolish lesbian woman who voted for Donald Trump because Hillary supported theocratic Islamic nations that kill gays. Let me be clear I neither like Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump and I certainly don't like any theocratic Islamic nation or any Abrahamic nation but let us be clear Trump has stated that he wants to outlaw gay marriage, to undue anti discrimination ordinances for LGBT people etc where as Hillary all though fickle will not do these things. The fact remains something that people namely these fluffy bunny let's all get along people fail to accept namely LGBT people who are keen on the Abrahamic religions. As long as the Abrahamic religions exist especially Christianity and Islam. Gay people's position in the world will always be precarious as these religions are clear that LGBT people and their identities must be suppressed and fought against even destroyed. So as long as these religions exist gay people will never have a stable place in the world. This is why I have always stated that I will never shed a tear for those Christians in Rome and Arabia and all of the persecution they allegedly received because if they have the power as they have shown ever since these religions were founded they will always without question attempt to destroy us. I am kind of in the doldrums and depressed about this but this is simply a fact and something I have truly always known.

Oh and before someone comes along here and say oh well my mother is a Christian and she accepts me for being gay and oh my family is Muslim and they are cool with my sexual orientation or gender identity. That is great but the bottom line is they do not represent the majority of Christianity and Islam and the Torah, Bible and Quran all mandate that LGBT people be put to death and the fact is that any time Christians or Muslims gain power those good family members and friends don't really matter and gay people are still put on the chopping block and this includes others such as Pagans, Atheists etc.

This is not a chicken little moment. Trump is neither a staunch Christian nor Muslim. He is a born and raised New Yorker and a Republican like no other. LGBT rights are going nowhere, gay marriage is going nowhere, and legal immigrants are going nowhere. The sun will still rise tomorrow and our lives will go on. You cannot turn back time, too many have come out. You cannot stop love. Just keep calm and carry on. :D

I'm sure Ben meant ALL foreigners who live in the US are refugees.

You couldn't be more wrong, they have already stated (him and Pence) their plans against LGBTQ people. Considering that Trump wants to undo pretty much all Obamas executive orders, which is a lot of LGBTQ stuff, we are pretty fucked.

You are absolutely fucking naive if you think nothing will happen to us under his reign.

No, he didn't. I've reminded him several times that there is a huge difference between 'refugee' and 'immigrant'. An immigrant goes somewhere because he wants to be there. A refugee goes somewhere - anywhere away from war and possible death - because he must.

Refugees are NOT immigrants.

^ you still don't get it.
He trash talk saying all foreigners ARE refugees.

It isn't naivety....he agrees with Trump and everything he stands for....and this poster is very much anti gay people....he has said so on this board. I believe he refers to us as faggots. He is the perfect Trump supporter....not naive......

When Trump does what he is gonna do...I think it would be a good idea to not excuse them when they try to excuse themselves and pretend they weren't part of it.
