I lost on Jeopardy

That’s good. He was my favorite on the Reunion tournament.

I just read that he gets to return for the Tournament of Champions. It will be interesting to see how he does against older competitors.

Usually the teens and college champs do OK. But the last Tournament of Champions was so stacked with mega-champs.

When they were trying out new hosts for the show, I was on Mayim's side, but not so much anymore. There is such a long pause after the contestant responds that I can only imagine Mayim has to hear the response and then look down to see what the correct response is before saying either 'That is correct' or 'That is not correct'.

With Ken, his response is instant. He knows the answers (as did Alex) before the contestants respond.

Wednesday night's games were really something. Holzhauer triumphed with a massive sweep, and then a gallant final wager, very magnaminous.

As I looked for the schedule tonight, I strayed to several websites, and read a silly clickbait article from Fox News. The comments predictably included attacks on Amy Schneider and even the Canadian, but they were far fewer than I expected, and rebutted. Not sure if that says more about how few Fox News followers watch Jeopardy or simply the fact that not all conservatives are bigots.

One thing occurred to me as I read the hack of the "woke" agenda and even an accusation that Jeopardy fed answers to Schneider to elevate her role (good grief!) The show's masters include four straight males, one lesbian, and one transgendered woman. So, no straight women reached the semi-finals. Wondering how representative the show is of intellect as much as competitiveness, play, and speed. Can hardly brand Jeopardy! as "woke" when women don't seem to succeed in representative numbers in an arena that hasn't seemed to be male dominated in my lifetime.

Oh, the BURN!

Ken Jennings in hosting the final night of Jeopardy Masters just delivered the zinger, "Something I dont' get to say often, 'George Santos' is CORRECT!"

The clue had been a string of alleged crimes he has been charged with.

NY must be ready to tar and feather than man.

I like Mattea but James is going to kick her ass

And Ken is such a better host than Mayim. I can’t stand how she has to pause and wait until someone tells her in her ear if the answer was correct or not.

No. Editing on the regular episode tonight actually showed Mayim looking down at the podium to read the response before looking up, smiling smugly, then saying, "----- is correct."

Her pause drives me nuts.

While we're on the subject, I wonder how long Aaron Rodgers would have lasted if he had been made host of the show?

So disappointed Mattea didn’t win that.

I agree on Mayim. Although I'm pro-feminist, I still feel like her selection was part of the get-more-women-in-STEM kind of thinking

Rodgers is just cute, in a non-intellectual charm that worked fine on the college bowl. I have to confess I've never watched a football game, but he's sexy for his good nature and generally humble demeanor. Also like his hair, believe it or not.

The final question tonight was such a shocker. I knew the translation, even though I had never taken Latin. I'm really surprised not one of them knew it.

I was just certain James' points were going to cause him to lose, but he squeaked it. She really miscalculated her wager, I believe, but maybe not.

Was certainly exciting, and Matt had class in his flame out.

If you've seen him being interviewed elsewhere or followed the weekly news quiz he did for Slate for several years, you know that Ken can be very witty indeed. (His first Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me appearance was a classic.)

Most of the city has moved on from wanting to tar and feather Santos to just pointing and laughing, but yeah, out in his district, they're still furious.

I got the translation, but (as I had forgotten about La Morte d'Arthur until I looked it up just now) I had no idea who it could be. I guessed "Malory" as the wildest of Hail Mary passes because I couldn't think of any other 15th-century English writers.
