I really object to the presence of Tegenaria gigantea in my personal dwelling space. I cannot think of a more ugly creature - the way it moves - the way it lies in wait to kill and devour!

It is completely irrational i know - but i hate spiders because i fear them.

Used to be an arachnophobe but, can live with them now.

I like rats, snakes and sharks - these seem to be fairly unpopular with a lot of human beings.

I can live with them - i'd rather shift them out of the house than simply kill them (usually via vaccum cleaner) i'm no where near as bad as i used to be i.e. arachnophobic - but i really do not want one in close proximity - or in contact with me.

 If I saw such a spider....as you are describing

I'd scream like a girl and refuse to go back into the room until I know it was removed (I didn't want to say killed....).
It's sweet you love these creatures....for some reason they just send chills right through me! Someone would have to hold me (*8*) to calm my fears. ;)

:-)

I'm only scared of picking up spiders 'cos I don't want to clamp my fingers on them and hurt or most likely kill them if they start to scuttle off :( If one walks onto me I'm ok with that. Same if someone was to put one in my hand or let it cross over from their hand.

I like spiders and beetles and centipedes and most of our friendly little British beasties ..|

... except for 'slaters' or wood-lice  Don't know why. If I find one I spend ages scooping it up and trying to launch it out a window before it scuttles off the paper. Don't like squishing things - only dirty big bluebottles get the squish treatment ;)

except black widow and brown recluse, i can tolerate the spiders of California. after all, they eat flies and skeeters and other insects.

totally hate flies, skeeters, roaches, slugs and snails and red ants... Snakes, rodents, lizards and those types of things don't bother me.

oh yeah, i really like spiderman;) ;)

Tarantulas are cute. One of my younger brothers keeps Mexican Red-Knee Tarantulas (and a few other types of giant spider), as pets. Some people aren't so afraid of the really big ones, because they tend to move much more slowly than the little species.

It is definately the way the move - the speed and the icky crawl - *shudder*

but the mother-fuckers down in Cornwall - surely you'd just want to crush the little buggers with your bag-pipes

I want no talk of crushing spiders with bag-pipes in my 'I Love Spiders' thread. [-X

Even Cornwall spiders need to be shown a little love and respect.

They coat them in fudge and chocolate, slice them up and sell them to Welsh tourists.

You better listen to Hoodie or I'll set a big hairy beastie on you [-X :p

I frequently see very long legged spiders that vibrate their entire web when approached. I catch them and put them in the garden. I have also noticed a type of Wolf spider lurking in the window boxes. They really are fascinating.
