I feel weird tonight all because of a simple "slip of the tounge" I had at work tonight. I work in the Pharmacy of a Catholic Hospital and two coworks and 2 studetents I'm training were having a conversation. As an analogy the one woman turned to me and asked "well when your about to have sex, don't you remove the wrapper from the condom before you use it?" (beleive it or not, that analogy fit right in with the conversation about this medication I was going to dispense ..LoL). Now here is where my problem is. My immediate response to that question was "It depends how well I know him......... I mean her". ARGH ! I totally fucked that up and the fact that I treid to cover my ass made it even worse. The one student immediatly pointed out what I said and we just made a big joke about it. But yea I think it may have anwsered some questions they might have had in their heads.

What do you think? Did I offically OUT myself?

LoL Well thanks guys, I guess by the end of the day tommarrow that everyone will know through the gossip channels. YES is the anwser I figured anyway. Thanks for the help, what an unsual wat for it to happen. However you guys are right, it was a pretty good way for it to happen if it was going to happen eventually anyway.
 
If no one makes a big deal, then consider it on the record and if anyone else ever gets shocked or you get cornered, you won't have to care because 'everyone totally already knows'. ;)

Yes, I don't think your cover fooled anyone. Your co-workers seemed to react well, but as you said word could spread. Being that it's a Catholic hospital, I hope the administration isn't too closed minded. At least you are from a state that is pretty open minded.
 
What an excelent way for it to happen. You couldn't have done it better if you had tried. The response was great and there was no agonising build up for you. If only this happened to more of us! (*8*)
 
You can bet that word will spread and eventually someone will ask you point blank if you are gay. It is up to you to take the oppertunity to come out or continue to portray it as a slip of the tounge. If no one made a big deal of it at the time then these people seem to be okay with it and as someone said above you may have given an answer to some of their suspicions.
 
I have to agree with everyone... yes. You outed yourself. But it sounds like all it did was settle some curiousity amongst your co-workers as they seemed rather unfazed by it. I say you just roll with it. Congrats on your coming out. :)
 
I am sure that there are some str8 guys that would have said that and laughed and be done with it.

I think you should've let things how they were. If you had kept talking like nothing had happened it would've been better than trying to correct yourself. People would've thought you were gay and wouldn't have said a thing about it.
 
I'm pretty sure I did that in a similar way at my job. My boyfriend ran over a curb one morning and messed up a rim on his new car and he called me all upset over it. I told him sometimes you don't even need a new rim, there are places that can resurface a little damage. I told him I'd look up some info on the internet. So I'm sitting there in a small room with two computers and one other co worker and I told him the story. Anyway, I'm looking at different websites when one I pulled up has my boyfriends exact style of car on the main page and I blurt out "that's exactly like his car, I mean hers." The co worker jumped all over it but seems to have kept it to himself except for the occasional smart remark in front of people. No one else really asks me about it, but I've always caught some flack for "living in the gay area of the city". They always seem to know and talk about the rest of us there that are gay. They probably talk about me too, behind my back.

I agree here,you're out....it appears that it's not a big deal to your coworkers,so it shouldn't be a problem with them.It occurred from the natural course of a situation,and unless the administration is totally anal and sticks its business into it because of your workplace being a Catholic institution,things should be fine.I'm happy you ot it over with honestly and matter of factly with those first words of yours "Depending how well I know him...."Just answer any questions your coworkers have as honestly and matter of factly,and be proud you can fully be yourself now,no hiding,no apologies.
