  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I may have OUTed myself at work !

As the Chinese lady says to me on the dry cleaners, "YOU GAY! You so gay, you open mouth, and chiffon come out."

Well I hope it works out for you - a friend of mine did something a bit crazy - he was sending out an email with a photo of a very hot looking naked man and he accidently put an email address of a coworker and sent it off and then realized his mistake. Oops but later he found out they all knew he was gay.

Tomorrow when you are at work, say "So, did I out myself yesterday?" and see what they say. That way you can laugh about it with them and at the same time come the rest of the way out of the closet.

Then you'll really feel good. ..|

LoL Well thanks guys, I guess by the end of the day tommarrow that everyone will know through the gossip channels. YES is the anwser I figured anyway. Thanks for the help, what an unsual wat for it to happen. However you guys are right, it was a pretty good way for it to happen if it was going to happen eventually anyway.

You just eliminated for yourself the stress of how and when or not to come out ... I would enjoy the fruits of your labor LOL  Like vetteboi said however, you DO work at a Catholic hospital so I would have to wonder how your outing will fly with them and the work environment.

Because of where you work, I would not pull out the pride: just yet! But CONGRATS are in order!!

Ok my next day of work came and went tonight and not a thing was said about yesterday. In fact nothing was any different at all. I just the storm just blew right over. I feel kinda at ease, I even think my voice became a bit deeper at work today too for some reason. Thanks for your responses guys.

how easy is it when you start to feel comfortable with being you.

Thanks for the update, see you problem, people have prob moved onto some other interesting thing to worry /talk about...

Just feel happy within yourself that, without having to intentionally say something about your sexuaility that , without any real effort you kinda told them..

Any if they are not picking up on it today , then they are either ok with it , or feel thats its not something to talk about.

Either way, well done !! The pressure is prob off alittle, i know when i first spoke to my female co worker about my new amazing b/f , i felt so much better after, and now we chat about stuff all the time, and i too stressed out about it ALL the time , worrying what they would say when they found out!

So chill , and just enjoy your life!

I think they might not have interpreted your slip as revealling at all. Truth is, if a guy displays no prior signs of stereotypical homosexual behaviour, a comment like that would just fly over everyone's heads and be considered a funny mistake by a straight guy. I know I wouldn't read into it if one of my straight friends made a comment like that, I would just give him shit about it for the rest of his life.

I wouldn't read anything into the slip. The male pronoun is so commonly the default one anyway. I sometimes do that in casual conversation, non-sexual, referring to a third person as "he". No big deal, especially in a hypothetical.

It appears to have been no real big deal--- and that counts as a form of acceptance in my book! Thanks for sharing the story!

You outed yourself. Congrats. And it was so easy. Beats the hell outta putting the phone on *page*, introducing yourself and stating categorically that you're a queer, homo, fag, gay guy. :-)

LoL Yes when you put it that way, it was much easier. Hmmm but today is my day off so I wonder if they will speak of it tonight while I'm not there? Then again do I really care?....... No not really.
