Are we talking in real life, or the decidedly disturbing comments in the Show Yourself Off forum?

... do young gay guys REALLY like hearing "positive" comments from older NONhot gay guys? I mean REALLY?

Yeah, see, that's what I thought. :)

I like hearing positive comments from older, attractive (even if they don't think so) men whom I respect... like yourself.

"Positive" as ...? What context?

^fine, if it's an admiring "Wow!" kind of way.

Not as pleasant if it's in a "yeah, I want you to fuck me and come all over me" kind of way, which sounds more like you're fantasising and getting your rocks off and not really paying me a compliment.

The same goes for younger guys, hot or not. It's kinda the difference between a compliment and a sexual harassment suit, IMO.

A compliment is a compliment, all that matters is the context. Since it's pretty hard to express words over the internet in certain ways, I take all compliments as compliments on the internet, whether it comes from the most beautiful young person or the oldest guy who thinks he comes across as a creep.

In person, it's a different story...

I dont a rats asshole who gives me one. I'll take them anyway I can, lol.

A compliment is a compliment to me. I wouldn't care if they were old or young nor would I assume there were underlying motives just because they're older. I think it's kind of sad that some people find it creepy instead of simply being nice.

I tend not to compliment youngish people for just that reason that they might regard it as creepy. Possibly because, when I was young, I had my fair share aged creepy theatrical queens trying to get off with me. This should not be taken as a sterotype of older people though as that would be unfair and ridiculous. I was working as a teenager in a Repetory Theatre where young men of any sexuality were regarded as fair game by many of the "Luvies"

I just don't ever want to be mistaken for one of them.

I don't know about others, but I can tell the difference between a genuine compliment and a come on. Either way, I don't mind unless it's completely inappropriate or creepy. It honestly has nothing to do with age or looks.

I can appreciate a younger guy, just don't want to sleep with them. I rarely go out with someone younger than 35.....

Yeah, see, that's what I thought. :)

Oh shit, before I compliment any man younger than me again, what's the criteria for NONhot? I need to check to see whether I fall under the hot or NONhot categories.

Is there a link to the survey you can send me which delivers the internationally recognised, government approved, UN ticked and inalienable, indisputably concrete and legal criteria which defines hot and NONhot? I need to fill it out and find the answer, ASAP.
;)

If my interaction on another website is any indication, I'd say yes - they most certainly do. That doesn't mean they want to get into my pants, though, which may be the point of contention here.

Hell....i'm happy if anyone older than me can still speak or type! .. there are few on here really older than i

having said that ... i have absolutely no problem speaking to or identifying with younger people ... on JUB or in person ...

and if i wish to compliment him ... i will ... how he takes it is up to him ... of course i try not to be trollish to anyone, regardless of age or circumstance ... that's just rude

and i definitely DO NOT agree with the attitude of many "older" guys that the younger men -- late teen or 20something through 30something -- are emotionally or intellectually unappealing ... there are many "older" guys in that category ie: the trolls of whom we speak

i really detest the stereotyping i see ... everyone is different, unique and worthwhile ... until they prove themselves to be otherwise

just my opinion .. thanks for asking...

I Always appreciate compliments...

Someday you too will get old and you will be wishing for those days when you got so many compliments. I am not even that old but they sure do dwindle as you age. And amongst gay guys, it's even worst.
