Sometimes, when I'm out for my daily walk, I take the long way home for a bit more exercise. There's a little flower shop along the way and I can't help but stop and look in the window. They sell little pots of seedlings for under a Toonie (Canada's $2 coin) and I'm always looking to see if they have anything new.

Today they had a few tiny pots of English Ivy and I went in and bought 2 of them. One had 3 vines and the other had 2.

I think I should stop taking the long way home. I'm running out of room for new plants.

Agh! I know what you mean. I still live with my parents, and they are getting pissed everytime I come home with a new plant. I think I'm running out of room now... Oh well :)

I've got 3 large 25 cm (10 inch) pots each holding 4 different plants. I have lots of singles, too, but I like the compilations. One pot has 2 different grasses and two different 'fern-type' plants. Don't know what any of them are, but they look nice in my window.

I don't have any plants. :(

I want to start getting some. I'll have to hit up the Farmer's Market.

You bought English ivy? We have a special word for them over here.

(snip)

Weeds.

Well, as the delightful Miss Marple once remarked (paraphrased), "A weed is only a plant which grows where you don't want it to grow."

My sister and our mum went out to the nearby DIY plant center since it was closeby, and they got a cactus. It's about 7 inches high, has a huge red bulbus red spikey head, and thickish stem.

I pointed out the obvious to our mum, and told her it looked like a penis. She never laughed so hard in her life. We had to hide the thing from view for a few days because it set her off laughing every time she clapped eyes on it.

Have you any phallic cactii? No? Time for one more long walk, eh?

^^I agree.

I am sure some on this site would say the same about me growing Californian poppies (Eschscholzia californica)

I feel the same going to the market and seeing all the flowers stalls. I always want to buy more but my garden is not that big ! It is hard to be reasonable !
