I need help from some of the guys that knew 80s style. We're have an 80s party to commemorate a birthday, the end of classes, a graduation party, all that jazz. However, it's an 80s style and I need to fashion myself an 80s outfit to get in (nevermind the fact that I need to buy Triple Sec with like $0 to my name)

My wardrobe consists of:
- various ripped jeans
- a pair of dark jeans with stitching all over the back leg
- pin-striped black pants
- various buttondown shirts
- a couple polos, baby blue and grey
- a bandana hiding... somewhere
- toques, baseball caps, and a fedora

is there ANYTHING I can make out of this or add to it to make an 80s outfit?

Hit the thrift stores, and look for...

* Members Only jackets
* parachute pants
* cordouroy shorts that are one size too small
* Izod shirts
* Jordache jeans

You should get out of there with something for less than $20.

I was a metal head in the 80's... so suggest the ripped jeans, a big black metal studded belt, cheap dark work boots(leather if you can find/afford) and an old concert t(like judus priest, molley hatchet, iron maiden, metallica...). Check thrift stores for the t and belt, or ask your dad and his friends to look in the rag bin.

Oh, and to take it over the top...put on some eye liner.

....you'll be the bad boy of the ball!

I was planning on going 80s punk/metal, and knowing the girls that are going to this party, I'm getting eyelinered.

The 80's was all about the hair...like the pic^^^^...use a lot of mousse and hairspray. Google images like Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran or other 80's bands and see what you have that's similar.

Some more options:
- tight jeans (ripped okay) or baggy pleated pants with cuffs at bottom. (The pin stripe pants might work)
- thin ties...loose and not pulled up all the way with a button up shirt...unbuttoned at top
- lightweight sport coat...with the sleeves pushed up to your elbow
- 2 polo shirts worn together...collars both flipped up. (one pink if you have it)
- A little black eyeliner maybe too

I had a pair of faux leather black shoes...somewhat pointed with shiny metal tab at the toe...loved those shoes.

Have fun and take pics!

Ok, so the big want right now is:

red plaid pants - I've wanted these forever anyways and would wear them out in a heartbeat. You know the ones, with the zippers everywhere
suspenders - hanging from the waste
shirt - un-freaking-known at this point
my fedora becuase I heart it and because I have no hair whatsoever

and the girls are for sure going to eyeliner me.

...going for that... whatever it's called??? post-new wave vibe, rent or download Edge of 17 for inspiration. Kind of a crap movie, but they totally nailed the lead kid's look.

...and yeah, he wore TONS of eyeliner ..|

80's was very punk inspired. Think accessories.

1. Cover your jacket in Safety pins.
2. wear studded belts and bracelets.
3. Pop your collar.

Go with the pin-striped black pants, baby blue polo shirt, and the fedora. If you have a bright single-color tie (the thinner the better) or a bolo tie, wear that as well. As for footwear, go with sneakers (if you have them) with white socks...

If it helps..

Taking from your list, I recommend the palest ripped jeans you have, a pastel-colored button-down shirt, high-topped sneakers (Reebok for choice, Converse in a pinch), and the fedora. Get a bandana and wear it cowboy-style around your neck (if you buy a new one, wash the hell out of it first), some really thick socks (or even legwarmers) to come out of the sneakers and over the hem of your jeans, and some very 80's accessories: Ray-Ban sunglasses, particularly in any color other than black; jelly bracelets (you know, the clear rubber things, I think they're back in style just now); and a Swatch watch (which you'll probably have to go to eBay to find).

That pretty much describes what I wore to my graduation party in 1986.

Ah, ye olden dayes!

- cover your jacket with assorted pins
- converse classic tenis shoes
- a hat
- anything with a checkboard pattern
- ripped and bleached jeans (must be tight fit) the bleach was all over the fabric not in some parts like in 2000's
- a glove on one hand only (leather and no fingertips)
- sunglasses
- the blazer over the tshirt
