Now I'm letting it rest. I hope it will come out good !oops!

Uhhhhhhhhhh

I think you made pancake batter and it doesn't need to rest.

Maybe its 'special' pancake dough. ;)

Is there a difference between dough and batter?

Dough is solid, Batter is liquid.

Batter.

So are we talking about bread or pancakes?
Dough or batter?

Griddle or oven?

What have you got resting on your kitchen counter?

Pancake batter which is left to sit will probably cook flat (more like crêpes than pancakes).

It's the air bubbles in the batter which make the pancakes light and fluffy.

I've never heard of a recipe which required letting the batter sit.

Unless, off course, what you call 'pancakes' isn't what we call 'pancakes'.

I thought you guys wouldn't understand crêpe so I used the word pancake. But it's crêpes I did.

Betty Botter bought some butter,
"But," she said, "the butter's bitter;
If I put it in my batter,
It will make my batter bitter;
But a bit of better butter,
That would make my batter better."

So she bought a bit of butter,
Better than her bitter butter,
And she put it in her batter,
And the batter was not bitter;
So 'twas better Betty Botter
Bought a bit of better butter.

THis debate about dough and batter makes me wanna grab a cake batter coldstone ice cream...

Raw pancake batter is deeeeeelicious! Just a couple spoon fulls though, then it isn't as enjoyable.

A Crepe is completely different than a pancake.
