I dont think you are a rapist if that is what you are worried about. dreams are a result of the creation of new neural pathways in most cases during deep sleep. I would say you connected a new memory of trainspotting with your sexual past/preference. I dont think it means anything more than that... unless you have a history of cruelty to animals...

Now I would never rape someone in real life
Don't tell me you did intend to...

Don't worry, dreams are weird. I once dreamed about a hot man make out with me in front of an old woman... and she's like  but he doesn't stop. I have no idea....

I have shit loads of really weird dreams. If I were to try to read anything into them I would spend my life in therapy. Do Americans try to read things into dreams, if so perhaps it explains the proportion of therapists in that society.

To see a rape being committed in your dream, denotes sexual dysfunction or uncertainty

From the dream dictionary.

Doesn't say anything about if you're the one doing the raping...

Weird. I was just gonna post my thoughts, which is the same interpretation. Dreaming of raping someone could just be your mind and body releasing pent up sexual frustration.
Are you getting enough sechs? Hehe.

We all have sexual dreams. It's just something that happens. Rape is an act of violence, and well, you were probably thinking about violence prior to sleeping, and let's face it, we ALWAYS think about sex!

Dreams are weird. I'm on medication at the moment and for the past week I've been having the strangest dreams. Last night I had one where the bottom of my house had been converted into this maze/fun house but then people found out about it and I had to move because it was meant to be private. There was also a part when I punched a little kid really hard in the face for no reason and remember being proud and glad that I did it

Let me guess, that day some neighborhood kid was throwing eggs at your house, riding his bike through your yard and tearing it up, or something like that?

I wouldn't worry about it. Now if you were obsessing about thoughts of raping somebody, then yeah you'd probably need help. But a crazy dream every once in a while is fine IMO.

Lol no, but the kid in my dream is someone out of a TV show i had watched earlier that day

Dream me is always to scared to even kiss someone :( . Also sometimes I have dreams where I'm being attacked/chased by someone with a knife or gun, and I always manage to disarm them, but then the weapon doesnt work! The trigger wont pull or the knife wont go in. What the hell is with that!

Before I met my current, "boyfriend" lets say, for my first time sexual encounter with him -- I had a messed up dream where he was like some drug lord or something and tried to kidnap me. I didn't sleep the whole night after that I was so nervous. Considering hes a University student going for his Masters, it really makes my dream seem messed up!

Needless to say, dreams are not reflective on reality unless you want them to be. From the philosophy I know from reading Sarte, dreams can't really effect existence unless you have already given them existence.

Essence preceding Existence
and
Existence preceding Essence (the most commonly believed principle)

Essence being thoughts/dreams/actions
Existence being what you believe to exist.

I don't believe my bf is a drug lord who is out to kidnap me. Do you believe you are going to rape someone?

Dreams are what you make of them. I've had plenty of pretty crazy dreams, but mostly mine are rooted in reality.

One I had this morning involved a tornado near Walt Disney World, where I work seasonally. Now what I think triggered this was that there was a small thunderstorm going through the southern United States and I had seen a tornado warning for southern Alabama. The smallest detail in your everyday life may be the trigger for what you end up dreaming that night.

I've had many sexual dreams as well - sometimes sex involving women! I've learned to believe that what happens in dreams doesn't exactly mean the same thing as if those happened in waking life - they're just metaphors. As much as I would LOVE for that dream with me kissing someone I really like in my life to mean my feelings for him are requited, just dreaming it doesn't make it so. And about the sex with women? Maybe that is telling me to open up my limits because I'm missing something that may very well be pleasurable in my waking life.

Just because you had a dream of raping someone does not mean you are a rapist, or have hidden tendencies to rape. But maybe there's a situation that you're trying too hard to dominate? Is someone holding you back from your desires, and in your frustration you are attempting to gain control back?
