So I was watching Logo and they mentioned that Cindy Lauper wrote True Colors after her sister, who is a lesbian. This gives me a whole new look at that song. Seems so obvious now.... So strange how something can be right in front of you and not even notice it. It makes me wonder what other songs there may be.

That, along with Time After Time are my two favorite Cyndi songs.

She hit the music scene around the same time as Madonna, if memory serves, and I always liked Cyndi more.

Still nothing like the original...

The other versions may sometimes be good generic pop songs, but the artistry really is in Cyndi's version (maybe because of her "raw" approach to everything).
