I found out that I snore. I don't know how much and how heavy, but it's been a few times over the last months that I woke up myself from my snoring.

Should I go to the doctor? I read it can be dangerous as you might suddenly stop breathing.

It's a matter of degree.

Most adult males snore. As we get older, the muscles in the throat lose tone and we also begin to store more fat in the neck and face.

If the person who told you that you snore said that your breathing was irregular, that the snoring was very loud or that you stopped breathing, then you should see your doctor.

On the other hand, if you're just snoring but breathing normally, you can first try to deal with the cause yourself before consulting a doctor. This usually means losing weight, using a decongestant at night or seeking treatment for allergies.

I don't have anybody lying next to me, I found out by myself !oops! So as I wrote, I don't know how serious it is.

Alright...I know this is going to sound crazy...but I love my boyfriend's snore. He usually falls asleep before me and there is something absolutely soothing about the noise he makes. (*8*)

So before you go and ruin a very nice comforting snore...check with the guys you love.

Oh...unless you have a giant challenge I doubt you will die from a "normal" snore!;)

I don't want to snore  I already have enough things about me that I dislike and it reminds me of my parents.

If you wake up from it, then chances are it's heavy enough to want to do something abou it. Check with your doctor.

I know some guys who have had surgery and it helped; I'm pretty sure your health insurance will cover it, but not absolutely positive.

It's not that heavy and loud, it's like I'm imitating the grunting of a pig, but I still wake up from it sometimes.

It sounds like obstructive sleep apnea. Same recommendations- losing weight usually resolves much of the problem unless you're one of those who has a unusually short neck.

Next step would be a sleep study and determining whether CPAP would help.
