I'd say no to that. You are not alone if you have someone you care about talking with you.... in person is best of course, but it's not 'alone' if you are on the phone with them.
I wouldn't say you could chat up a phone operator or anything like that.....

I've only done the phone drinking thing with a few close friends, which to me puts it in the non-alone category. Granted, I do drink alone for real sometimes, but usually just a beer with dinner or after a hard day at work.
