Yanno, when you asked him what would make him stop being your friend and he said "if you were gay". Normally a friend would say "there is nothing that would stop me from being your friend" or some BS like "if you were an axe murderer".

I think he may have suspected you 'might' be gay for him to come out with that answer and you're response caught him off guard and it took a while to process.

But be careful lol thats great the shock treatment works wonders sometimes.When you shock someone into making a choice they usually spend time and think about it and usually the response is the best.When you meet up with him just remind him that you appreciate his friendship and leave it at that he will gradually accept you more.

The thing about homophobes that i think is mainly one of the most important factors.Is that many of them probably have gay fantasies and because of their upbringing cant accept it they build a wall around it and anything that might make a dent or crack in that wall is WAR!!
