When KFC ran out of chicken and remained open. But tonight Taco Bell was sold out of all tacos and burritos. :telstra:

Good...I didn't wanna pull your finger.

It really suggests that YUM! has a serious supply chain issue. Both Taco Bell and KFC are owned by the same.

That said, I clearly remember Burger King running out of basics when my mother worked for them back three decades ago. I guess it could be the local owners shaving too closely their inventories instead of stocking adequately.

Many moons ago I managed a KFC store. We cooked the chicken in what I recall to be a 'crescor'. To know what amount to prepare we had journal of the same date in prior year with facts such as the weather, road work in the area etc.
We would go back about 3 years and take an average. It was a roll of the dice. So it was possible to run out of cooked chicken or to have hundreds of pieces left over.

That's interesting. I thought they just kept the warmers to certain levels at certain times of the day on certain days of the week.

They used to get slammed on Sundays.

I thought Alistair's point was they were out of chicken, as in inventory. It's not unusual to have to wait for an order at any chicken joint, depending on how much you order or how busy they are.

KFC is the world's 2nd largest restaurant chain, after McDonald's. That's a lot of chicken.

^ yes, they actually had no chicken at all. Taco bell was completely out of ground beef and chicken last night. They only had steak available.

Last year while driving back from Boston I started jonesing for some KFC. 10 hours later we pulled into the KFC in Buffalo, but another car slipped in front of us. As we approached the drive through window the clerk said, "so sorry but the car in front of you just bought every single piece of chicken we have." I had a melt down.

It sounds like poor management, but I'm not in the business, so maybe I don't know.

I supposedly drank metal shavings in the mid 80's (broken blade on an old blender from grinding ice for Mai Tai's)

And I'm still here
