I used a handgun today

Uh, the weapons don't kill others - people might use the weapons to kill or maim others but the weapons themselves don't commit any acts. They're incapable of doing so.

yes guns don't kill people

people use guns to kill and maim others

how sweet

So glad i live in a nation where one doesnt feel compelled to go to bed with a loaded pistol under the pillow.... or keep a pistol under the seat of ones vehicle "just in case".

Gun crime in the UK is on the rise, but it's still a tiny fraction of the remainder of the world.... i like the knowledge that i can get into an argument with someone in the street, without fear that he's going to draw down on me.

Very well put and they mirror my feelings exactly on this issue. The just in case excuse people use for having a firearm just simply doesn't wash with me. Just in case someone pulls a gun on me, i'll have an even bigger, better gun than them and that will surely solve the issue we have. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.

I don't get why guys like hunting or shooting those kind of guns, but hey, whatever's fun to you.

I used to love hunting!!!

OK, hunting season

and only in high school...

They would give the entire school like 3 days off because so many families go hunting.

I shot a different kind of gun during those 3 days ;)

I feel the same way. They ARE scary.

But part of it for me comes from rarely handling one. It doesn't feel like something I can control, but rather something that could unexpectedly kill someone around me.

My mother never allowed guns in the house. Even when we were kids and we got a toy as a present that was a gun my mother would give it back and say "There's no guns allowed here". Then the war happened. And we saw what guns do.

I don't like guns.

I'm like you Mattie, guns make me very uncomfortable. I'm glad I've never been in a situation where guns are so readily available. The one time it was I wasn't aware of it. I was with a friend of mine and she had bumped into some guy at this bar we were chilling at. We were all really high and drunk, and we went back to his place. Then this guy take my friend to the side and opens some closet. I didn't finish my drink she said to him that we had to go work tomorrow and then we left.
When we got outside she tells me that he had a closet full of guns and that she was uncomfortable being around around a lot of guys drinking with guns so close by.
I was happy she made it so we left. I'm actually glad that I've got nothing else to say about that.

I don't want to interact with guns, I would never want to be in that kind of a situation. And it's kinda cool knowing that it Canada I probably wont unless I'm looking for it. One of the cool things about living in Canada.

Hey have you guys heard Tori Amos' version of "Happiness is a Warm Gun" it's pretty good tune.
