  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I wanna work in the adult entertainment ind.

OK, here's how I got into the industry.

I went to film school and studied not only art direction and composition but editing.

I decided I wanted to be an editor.

I pretty much hung out my shingle and started to do freelance editing for adult companies. I took a job working as a web designer for a smaller company and eventually coaxed them into promoting me to their senior video editor position.

I started to shop around for a company that I really liked. I found that Fratmen - a company of which I was a huge fan - was looking for a part time editor.

I called the owner/director up and convinced him to hire me.

I sold everything, left everything behind and moved to LA where I slept on a friend's floor for five months while working part time for Fratmen and doing freelance work on the side.

I was soon hired on full time and given LOTS of other jobs.... marketing, publicity, promotion, product development, whole sale and affiliate management and about 30 other things.

I was promoted to VP earlier this year.

I love my job and I'd never change it for anything. dont' worry about the people who act like your'e crazy for wanting into this industry.. it's very rewarding, exciting, fun and worth every minute.

Some people are born for porn.

some are not.

You know which is you.

THANK YOU SOILWORK!....I know I wanna do this,I just didn't know where to start!..what classes I should take in school, whether it be editing,or photgraphy ect. I know usc is a good place to go if you wanna study movie directing,so that's how I get confused as to which one I should pick!.....Congratulations on becoming VP for fratmen!...that's so awesome,I truly hope I reach my goal and make it into the industry! Thanks man!

If you do go to film school.. just learn it all.

Make sure to be heavier on the production side...

OK, I'm not in the business, but I'll give you my advice anyway. Worth precisely what you're paying for it.

You say you'd like to break into the adult entertainment industry, but you appear to have absolutely no skills that the AEI might want. The only people who can sort of walk in and get a job with no skills would be (possibly) extremely attractive guys who can do some interesting things with their nether regions. But you've alread y said you don't fall into that category either. If you really want to get into this field, you're going to have to gather the skills necessary to do so.

The way you phrase things, I think, belies your true intentions. Some people have come up to me and said, "I wanna do what you do - it looks like fun." These are people I don't think would be good at it. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'd quit before they even built up any of the necessary skills to do it. I feel the same way when I read, "I'm also interested in being an actor, but not just yet,I wana work mabe the camera first,on account I'm not in awesome shape yet!" I think speaks volumes about what you perhaps truly want. It doesn't sound like "This is a field I'm interested in. I'd like to break into the industry." It sounds like, "I ain't too hot yet, but I still want to hang out with the hot guys, and maybe some day have sex with them on camera!" Maybe I'm wrong. But that's how I'm reading it.

If you really want to work in AEI, get a skill they need. Learn to run camera and sound. Teach yourself video editing skills. But know that it's gonna take time, effort, and money. If you're thinking this is a great field where basically you're gonna get paid to have sex with hot guys, you're in FantasyLand. But if you literally are serious about this sort of thing, get started on getting some marketable skills.

Lex

Well its not about me having sex with hot guys, what I said about me being an actor is basically just a fantasy...not beacouse I'm not in shape, beacouse I am a good looking guy,I'm just a little pudgy! Lol....but I realy wanna work the media part, such as filming or editing ect.

Sorry.. no MySpace. I had one but it was really just a spam repository.

I also might suggest that if you want to be a model.. just start modelling.

Contact companies you'd like to work for and submit some pictures.. learn as you go.

Being a model who became a producer is pretty cool in the industry.
