  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I want a Red Ryder BB gun for christmas and I won't shoot my eye out.

If you shoot your eye out, just say that an icicle fell on you!

PeTe, my love, you're not going to believe this.....

I actually own a Red Ryder BB Gun!

When the Christmas Story movie came out the Daisy company actually manufactured a new series of them. My dad, who loves the movie too, bought them for my brother and me for Christmas one year! :D

PeTe and Ron, you both aren't going to believe this...

but I've got one.

An original. In the box!

It was my father's and I found it a few years ago. The box hasn't been shot up (there are targets on it) but it is not quite pristine, as my father wrote on it with his name. The gun itself has a bit of wear but is still pretty good.

I'm hanging on to it for now but since you posted the thread, I think I will try tomorrow to take some pictures and post them--my batteries are dead tonight, so I'm charging them up...

:D

:elf:

^Yooper I want to see pics of it.

how awesome it would to be get an original.

I'm drooling.

Pictures! Here ya go!

Sorry it took a while, I had some issues. :D

These things must have been pretty popular, I still have mine as well. I used to use it to shoot G.I.Joe's when I was a kid.

I've never owned a bb gun before. If you get it, hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Well, Yeah. My Crossman shot both BB's and Pellets - not .22, but close enough - pump action - get that sucker pumped up and shoot!

Oh, did I mention that my dad also bought us a forged steel sling shot? That was pretty deadly, too.

I knew just one kid with one of those sling shots. He had it for less than a week, because it got taken away after he injured a neighbor's cow.....

We didn't do that. But we did some other things that shall remain unnamed. They have been cast into the depths of Mordor and there they shall remain.

Me too! My grandpa bought mine for me. My dad was pissed because he wanted one as a kid and his dad (my grandpa) wouldn't get him one, because he'd shoot his eye out!

I actually almost shot myself in the eye. I shot a street sign and the BB bounced back and hit my glasses

Wow. Most of the kids around here got what was practically an NRA gun safety course before they were allowed ammo for a BB gun -- so they knew about ricochet and backdrop.

I think the worst thing I remember of BB gun use was snake races-- kids would catch snakes and throw them in the water to race across the river. At some point someone started shooting BBs at the other guy's snake, and then everyone was doing it. But I never heard of a snake actually getting hurt, mostly the shots were meant to scare the other snake into going to wrong direction.
