  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I was at Walgreen pharmacy the other day

Me and my friends used to be regulars at a country bar near my old house, and one of my friends refuses to go there now because of a few instances where the staff was rude to him, or us.
- On steak night, my friend apparently got the last steak, and the woman who runs the karaoke machine went up to him and said "You got my steak you asshole!"
- When me and him were hanging out there and having a drink, I finished mine and put it off to the side waiting for the waitress to serve me, and from a couple tables over, she said to us "I'm on my break so go up to the bar and get it yourself". Oh man, my friend was absolutely livid! I'm not even exaggerating, I'm surprised he kept his composure!
- I wasn't there when this happened, but when my friend was ordering a soft drink because he was driving, the waitress basically made fun of him for not ordering more alcohol.

^^ In college a bunch of us were at the bar. Barmaid wouldn't clean the table off. So we had tons of glasses and full ashtrays. Buddy says "grab your drinks" and we did. Because we knew what was coming. He flipped the table over and dumped everything on the floor. Then set the table upside down on the carpet, spun it and turned it right side up.

Hey, she deserved it. We had been at that table for an hour without her coming by.

There is no excuse for bad service.

When you are working for a store, whether it is a mom and pop grocery or a national pharmacy like Walgreens, you, as the employee, represent the company to your customers. If you give customers a bad impression, then the company has a bad impression to that customer. If you are working for Walgreens, essentially YOU are Walgreens!

When you walk into work, you are on the clock, and your time there is being paid. You put your own prejudices and problems aside and perform your duties to the best of your abilities. If you are giving even the most difficult and demanding customer an attitude, then you are not representing the best interests of the company, and therefore have nothing to complain about if you get fired. I worked in retail as a teenager, and I know that people can be total assholes. But if it happens on company time, that employee is 100% wrong.

JP, if it ever happens anywhere else, follow the good advice from our fellow Jubbers, let the offender's manager or boss know about it! You, as as the customer, deserve to be treated respectfully.

^^ Oh man, don't get me started on asinine customers. It's a wonder I have a bottom lip from the amount of times I had to bite it.

People are assholes on either side of the counter and when I had to deal with it more I tried to justify that maybe the person was having a bad day, but then I thought to myself that I wouldnt act like an ass to a random stranger because of my emotions.

My boyfriend was in the supermarket the other Day and a Lady was in front of one of the fruits he wanted. He said "Excuse me" and she moved, then he said "Thank you" and she said "Well you aren't welcome."

Clearly she was an asshole and I would have called her one if I was there.

One time I was at Walmart. I had to return an item. Standing there in line (which KILLS my leg) and some woman was in front of me. On her blanking cellphone. The woman behind the counter said "next". Which was the woman with the cellphone. She's buried in that cellphone. Not a damn clue as to what was happening around her. Then the woman behind the counter says "next" again in a louder voice. Woman still buried in the cellphone. I got hot. I said just loud enough for the woman on the phone to hear me, "get your fucking ear out of the cellphone and pay attention". She turned around and gave me a dirty look. I gave her one right back.

People and their cellphones piss me off to no end. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is important around them. The cellphone is the only thing that's important.

Oh my fucking god damn god! YES! I absolutely hate people like that! Everywhere you look now, people have their face buried in an iPhone oblivious to the world around them. Even when I hang out with my friends, sometimes I'm just left sitting there alone while they're playing with their phone, it is extremely rude and antisocial. Same thing at concerts, movies, etc... they basically paid to sit and play with their phone. They easily could have done that at home and their ticket could have gone to someone who actually wanted to be there.

Also, I would have just cut in line in front of the cell phone woman.

Some times it can be.

When my ex and I did outdoor shows, we had big black velvet boards to display jewelry on. There were numerous signs asking people to please not put their drink on the tables. Most ignored the signs. One day, I took the 'kid whacker' (a strip of oak) and pushed it between two of the upright boards and pushed some woman's drink off the table. Splat, she had pop all over her shoes. She wasn't happy. I pointed to the sign 6 inches from where she put that cup ON the velvet. As she left, I told her "thank you very much, don't bother coming back". Another woman was there and she winked at me.

can you described the scene in picture or video form ?

My ex and I found a way to call idiot customers assholes without them having a clue. We were coming back from a show and I saw the sign for an exit. It said "Food Exit 270". I started laughing so hard I damn near put us in the ditch. He's looking at me and screaming "what's so fucking funny?" Well... if your mouth is a food entrance, where does it exit? So when someone would piss us off, we'd loudly say "270!".

When I was working at a convenience store/gas station, some guy came in and grabbed a 12 pack of beer and ran out the door. He shouldn't have done that when I was out from behind the counter. I ripped a can of pop out of the cooler and ran out the door on the other side. As he was going by, I threw that can like a football. Poof! I took the side window out. Hope he enjoyed the beer.

Same place. I worked graveyard. Manager was in and I hollered that some asshole was running (pumped gas, taking off). He ran out and put his foot right in the driver's door. Crunch! Left one big assed dent.

And when you're going to pump your own gas, LOOK at the pump. Some woman pulled up to the green pump. The only green pump (the rest were red). Green was diesel, not gas. She pumped $5 (back then it was about $1 a gallon) worth of diesel in her non-diesel car.

She comes in to pay for it and I said "you realize that you put diesel in don't you?" Oh no, what do I do now? I said, fill the tank with regular gas, it'll run but run rough and will probably smoke a bit. She didn't have any more money. I shrugged and off she went.

What really gets my goat is how they count your change back to you. That's NOT the way to do it. When I get someone who counts it back the way it should be, I always thank them. Put the damn change in my hand first. Don't drop the bills then drop the change on top AND then the receipt. Put the damn receipt IN the bag. It's a bitch to then put the bills in my wallet. And the bills should all be face up and the heads pointed in the same direction.

I would've raised a big stink. Where's the manager? Years of working retail taught me one thing. 1) The customer is always right. 2) See rule #1.

I had an experience like that at a restaurant with a car park valet. I went straight to the restaurant owner and made my unhappiness, known to him and all of those around me. I won't be spoken to like that by anyone. I'd have gone right to the manager....

Good idea..I have no idea that was unthinkable to me.

I don't remember any clerks being rude to me but other people in a few situations have been. I almost never react. The Haki power is usually enough to tame them

Dude I would have been like, in my best Tony Montana voice, with that crazy ass stare, "Okay, you want me to come in again and we start all over again???" I've done that to somebody working at Wal-Mart who was stocking the chip aisle and I asked if he had any Lays that were on sale and not on the shelf, he said, kind of rudely, "NOPE". I said that line in the Tony Montana voice, just stood there staring, boring a hole through his eyes into his soul, we maintained eye contact for a good 2-3 seconds, then he kind of smirked and I just kept staring at him, he busted out laughing, then I couldn't contain myself, I broke character and just started laughing as well.

Nah, just give them the 'stink eye'.

things I did ^^

Okay he could have been nice about it.

At an electronics store you might get that kind of product knowledge, but not a general store like a Walgreens.

Right. Lack of product knowledge is no excuse for rudeness from anyone. Having a bad day is no excuse either.

Indeed, I came checked the other day, the battery actually was "there" under different brand. He just not wanting to be helpful with me, instead threw me off the bus.

Makes me glad I've never encountered a rude employee as of yet.

But you're living in NYC??!!

So the story basically goes like this;~

Walgreen seemed not carrying that particular type..so I brought my sample I carried from home and a few similar batteries from the aisle, then I asked a clerk "Do you have battery substitute for this..kind of battery?"

Suddenly he lashed out: "You wear glasses, what your glasses tells you?"

"If they're not the same, then they're not. Stop wasting your time to find the correct one. I'm telling you, safe your time!"

I was staring at him numbly, gave him a stink eye..then I said
"sure, but you're so rude you know?"

turned my back- put back all those batteries to aisle. Decided not to buy.

Later on he curiously asked: "What the battery is for?"

I said sternly "It's for my robot-fish toy

"Where did you get that?"

"From Bartell Drugs" (Walgreens competitor)

"Does Bartell selling toys right now?" And he was making funny face like trying to ease up situation

"I don't know"

"Ok, bye-bye"

"bye"..--------- I can't believe I can't rude back to him!!. ](*,)

But after that I took a vow myself.. that was the last time I got disrespected in "mundane" situation..when I though nothing could turn sour, I should've known better for now..to not completely off-guard with people in public.

Seattle is a polite city but of course, there are some jackasses here and there..and I should read the situation FAST enough before they could bit me, or at least I can give him the deserved comeback..

My assertiveness in work place is excellent..because I'm ALERT when I working..but I must aware to those outside my acquaintances, sometimes they could get nasty too..I can't just "la di da" everybody is nice with me..*%%* No.

Where's my inner BITCH when I need it!!? :grrr::jab:$%^$%^$&^

The eyesight insult was a meh..but to think he could get away because I didn't reporting him to his manager is what..kind of making me regretting inside.

In my 20s...I had a chip on my shoulder and if you decided you were going to fuck with me..good luck with that. Since they didn't know me....they obviously never chose their battles carefully...and I did..so I won....and I am sure they thought twice before they decided to take a shit on someone else....

I got lots of free stuff..even a free washer and dryer....and I sent a fag basher to the hospital

That was hot.. :=D:
when I beat the shit out of him..they had to pull me off. I was a little scary if you wanted to fuck with me..not really at other times....I never initiated it myself...

Over the years..thinking back..I am not really sorry about any of the things I did. I would be lying if I said I was. I am glad I waited to take it out on people who asked for it...I left people who didn't alone.

My "fire" pretty much got burned out by the time I turned 28...my husband tamed me alot...and helped me channel my anger in alot more positive ways. He showed me how to make it an asset instead....

Today...I might not even notice. I have changed..alot....

Sometimes to choose a higher ground could detangle us free from unnecessary position, but doing that when you're not got bitten.

One time while buying groceries, the checkout girl was all pissy and jammed my goods into the bag. I stopped her and asked for the manager immediately. When he arrived I explained to him what just happened and he apologised and said i can go fetch replacements for the damaged products. I said nope and pointed to the clerk. "She can go and get the replacements." She was humiliated.
Yash! :=D:
Last summer buying groceries up by the cottage, another mouthy cashier, and the guy in front of me called her a dumb cunt. This time i just dropped my groceties and ran for the exit as I heard her go supersonic on his ass. I didn't want to mixed up in that one.
Yep, that's what I meant.

Where is that place? Nashville? Sounds like cowboy hell to me..

Yea, but that was few months ago..if I come telling his manager right now , doesn't it looks like I'm being very passive-aggressive?
