last night and it was the most amazing night of my life. where i live it's very shelter so it felt so amazing to go somewhere where i could be more myself than i ever have. and i danced so much lol. for like 3 hours. it was amazing. they played so much good music...and the guys! they were all so pretty and i'm umm...not lol. but i can't wait to go back:D :gogirl:
 
Mine was kind of disappointing, I had went to a bear bar and all I saw were chasers and a lot of none bear type men.

That's the way it usually happens and now it will become an ongoing part of your social life, perhaps for years to come. Going to the bar for the first time is almost like your first lover. You never forget either.

Congratulations! I'm glad you had a good time and I'm sure it won't be long before you go back again.

My first was rather unique. Myself and three of my straight friends were tricked into going to a gay bar by someone who used that as his way to come out to us. I really didn't know I was gay at the time and I was rather uncomfortable.
 
Answer to JSRD's question:

never been to a gay bar. I go to a place called the Spanish Moon, where on thursdays, its all 80's music. I dance my ass off and it's a lot of fun.

I'm not interested in going to Splash, the gay bar here, because most of the guys that I know that go there are big whores. It's just not my cup of tea.
 
I started going to them recently, it's fantastic. Especially the weekly gay night at a local pub which is huge (600 capacity) and usually packed with gay students (It's near the uni, and the accomodation).

I had to be willing to dance to really camp music, but when everyone else was, I didn't mind half as much.

Hoooray! That's awesome! I'm glad you had a great time, and like everyone said, this is just the start! i felt the exact same way when i first started going out regularly, i just had to keep goin! :gogirl:
 
Yeah, its a great feeling to be around all gay men and be able to drop your guard, huh? And the dancing just makes it all the better.

Glad you had a good time. My first time was in a very nice large dance bar but it seemed so empty. I felt awkward because I felt like I stood out. A month or so later I found out where everyone was going and when I went there, it was great!

Same here. I had plenty guys checking me out and saw a guy who was a 20 on a scale from 1-10... Hopefully he'll be there again next week :D There are 3 or 4 gay bars/lounges in my town (and countless other clubs, discos, etc.) - I can't say why I never did that before. It's so much fun!! Good luck to your adventures in the scene - but: safer sex all the time (!)

I agree with you both - the relief of being with other and feeling safe and no longer pressured - I consider my self out, can not imagine what the pressure and tension a "closet-gay" might feel. Anyway, do celebrate your life - have fun and as Andross says: safe sex all the time!

I went with my "girlfriend" back in the disco era (does anybody remember...?) She wanted me so badly but refused to believe I was gay. Even this didn't convince her.
