Okay, soI'm here watching Montreal vs Toronto and was kinda bored.
I've never been a sports guy but I started following hockey a bit over a year ago. I've became a fan of the sport and watch every game I can even though I don't support any team in particular.

Are you guys into hockey? Tell me what you think of the sport (and the players) even if it's not your thing! :gogirl:

Totally with you on that. I wanted to watch that game but couldn't.

I always appreciated hockey and wished I could have played it growing up... but alas.. growing up in an asian family where sports wasn't a priority outside of tennis/badminton made for a lack of hockey exposure. Now that I'm 29, I want to learn the sport and play it... but it's not too popular here in Southern California.

Sir Ron has always had the hots for hockey players....(especially if they were French Canadian!) :D

Viv' la Quebec!

Big Canadiens fan here. Always good when we beat those Leafs.

Obviously, a big fan of the Boston Bruins here. I'd highly recommend seeing a game in person if you have a team nearby. It's an electric experience to watch if you're actually there in the arena.

I LOVE hockey. My avatar should tell you who my favorite team is. I grew up playing hockey in my back yard. My parents would make a rink and all of the neighbor kids would get together and play. We had so much fun and played for hours on end. I used to have a T shirt that said "give blood.....play hockey" lol it was awesome.

My favorite college team is the North Dakota Sioux. Unfortunately I haven't had much time lately to follow college or pro but I do try to catch a game on tv when I get the chance. I love the fast pace and action included in most games. Of course there is plenty of eye candy too.

I'm glad you found the sport and are enjoying it. Keep watching. You'll start picking up on different aspects of it and it will be even more fun.

Steven.

This is the only thing I enjoy about Hockey, Paul Bissonnette !! :p*|*

Thanks! Being from southern europe, my country isn't really into ice sports or any other sport then Football (thats Soccer for all you americans out there).

I see teams from the US being a lot more violent then the rest (especially the Boston Bruids) ;)

Hey Max

It's the Boston Bruins, not Bruids. They're actually one of my least favorite teams. Hockey has become a lot less violent as the years have gone by. I don't have a problem with a good clean check but some of the guys play dirty. I don't like watching a game filled with cheap shots and fights. It takes away from the sport and slows down the fast paced action that I like to see.

It's not just American teams either. I've seen some pretty rough Eastern European teams play. It seems like every team has a designated goon that will go out and try to take a player out. I wish that weren't part of the game but unfortunately it is. It's getting less however.

Don't give up on the sport. It's still a lot of fun.

Steven.

I got to watch my beloved Detroit Red Wings beat San Jose today. For the first time in a very long time I got to enjoy the entire game. It was awesome. Pavel Datsyuk is gorgeous. I think he was 18 when he started playing for the Wings. A lot of the pro players start out pretty young and stay with the same teams throughout their careers. Unlike other sports where the seem to get passed around so much. I hope I get to enjoy the playoffs this year.

Rodney Dangerfield: "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out."

I've actually been playing league hockey for a while now. It's great. It's an aggressively fun sport. I think it bonds you more than something like basketball, plus group showers are pretty much a given. It's not like you're going to drive home in your pads.

Not at all. I kinda like the fighting sometimes ;)

Hockey players are hot in general. I'd love to be a towel in any of those locker rooms. Wouldn't we all?

Oh my. Tell us all about it :p

I'm not that big on other sports, but I am a HUGE hockey fan. These are some of the things I like about it:

-It's fast. I like going to a baseball game in person but just cannot stand to watch it on TV. Hockey is fast and never gets boring, on TV or live.

-It takes lots of athleticism. You can't be a fat ass in hockey. You have to be a good skater, a good shooter, etc

-It's gritty. You have to be in your face physical. The players play for more minutes in a game than other sports.

-It's low scoring. I know lots of people hate this about hockey, but to me this is one of it's good features. A goal really means something; it's a big deal. Basketball is fast, but they score like every single minute......to me a goal in hockey is the result of some great plays, great skill, or great strategy.

-Compared to other sports, the players are really humble, average joe kind of guys. You don't see the over the top scandals in hockey like you do in other sports.

-Tradition means a lot in hockey...and I like that.

-The fans are generally GREAT! Very committed, very few are fair weather fans....they are in it for the long haul. Living in southern California, where hockey is not that big, when I meet another fan, it is like instant brotherhood.

I'm glad you discovered the sport...enjoy!

I've seen some hockey players with their shirts off. AMAZiNG BODIES, you'd never think they'd be so fit under all that bulk.

I am obsessed with hockey. I played it for 9 years when I was younger, and recently just started playing it again because I live right across the street from the university hockey arena, and I get to play for free, so I play 3-4 days a week. I am a Minnesota Wild fan, since I live in Minneota.
