I'd never heard the word 'phimosis' until right now... I have it

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

When I think of all those facing chemo, and death.

Then there's your concerns. Hmmm...

When I think of all those facing chemo, and death.

Then there's your concerns. Hmmm...

I would imagine people at such a young age have much different concerns than how much longer their prostate is going to last.

JUST AS I'M TRYING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE TO GET IT BACK ON TRACK!

WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT TO CHANGE MY PENIS WHEN THERE'S BEEN NO HEALTH PROBLEM WITH IT FOR 33 YEARS, AND THERE'LL BE NO HEALTH PROBLEM WITH IT FOR THE NEXT 33!

Um... so don't?

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

My penis is fine and I've never had any pain or issue with it in my 33 years.

This part of your post would be the most significant for me... if you're fine with your penis, don't push yourself so hard over it... from my experience, I've had lovers with 'phimosis' and hasn't been a problem at all... as long as it doesn't hurts and gives you lots of pleasure, you're fine...

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

Well, I think you're blowing this out of proportion. You have to apply a cream, but no one is really forcing you to. Assuming that your phimosis isn't so severe that you can't pee or that you can't get a full erection without pain or stress on your tight foreskin, you don't HAVE to do anything.

The health complication with phimosis is that if the foreskin can't be fully retracted, you risk it tearing during maturbation or sexual penetration. If the skin is not loose enough to move smoothly and fully back and forth, it may tear and that will increase your exposure to STIs or infection because of a fresh open wound and it'll hurt like hell.

If your foreskin is loose enough to move sufficiently and you can engage in sexual penetration without any problems, then chill out. Put down the cream. Live your life.

Either way, using a cream is about a .5 on a scale of 10 for the health crisis inconvenience meter. Take a deep breath and chill out.

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

If you've never retracted your foreskin you'll have smegma which is utterly disgusting and you need to wash behind the head daily or it smells like death... I think thats reason enough?

i didnt even know i was sposed to retract it till i was 12-13 lol.. Took me half an hour of stretching in a warm bath i could have made nachoes out of all the cheese! The head will be very sensitive but as it gets used to touch it will desensitise which also helps your sex endurance.

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

Love your attitude luminum (not being sarcastic)

ps one thing you do not want to do at first is get your pubes lodged in between it kills!, first few days i rolled the foreskin back and would lie in bed just to get the head used to touch..

That was a very good and informed reply... but about this specific part quoted, a way to avoid the 'potential' risk of tearing a tight foreskin in sex, is simply using condoms and lube for penetration, which protects too against any STIs... that's all...

About the 'smegma' cited above, well, I'd sucked cocks with phimosis and haven't found any... just an slightly stronger scent and taste, but no 'utterly disgusting accumulation'... maybe is because their urine (which is an sterile liquid) naturally washed away any excess of that 'smegma', which by the way is a common lubricant secretion in mammals, which women produce too under their clitoral hoods (many completely unaware of their presence... until now I haven't heard of straight guys complaining about it to their girlfriends...). I can't understand all that hysteria about 'smegma'... licking the arse is definitely worse in higyenic terms but is featured in porn and enjoyed for many people, despite the potential risk of getting hepatitis or other infections through it...

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

Perhaps the cocks you've sucked with the condition can be retracted when flaccid, but its tigher when errect.

if they would have never pulled back the foreskin it would be heinous and you would realise it :p

Condoms don't address the risk of infection from the wound nor do they address the fact that phimosis can restrict sexual penetration in general even with a condom. The foreskin should be fully retracted before a condom is put on and if you can't do that, then you're using the condom wrong and increasing its chances of breaking. Putting a condom on a penis with a tight, unretracted foreskin may reduce risk of STI infection, but won't really affect the risk of it tearing from the stress of repeated movement.

, is simply using condoms and lube for penetration, which protects too against any STIs... that's all...
...That is if your sex play begins and ends strictly by when the condom goes on and when it comes off. Even then, removing the condom if the foreskin has torn will expose it to any sexual fluids or contamination on the outer rim of the condom. In addition, tearing of the foreskin increases risk of contracting STIs that can be spread by skin-to-skin contact, not just those spread by sexual fluids and blood.

Re: I am so NOT wanting this stupid issue in my life right now....

I dont think urine would be reaching the most common problem area for smegma buildup which is the little groove behind the head.

The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

The long-standing appointment finally arrived at the hospital today.

So, he had a good, thorough look (I wish he was a little gentler when he pushed my foreskin back :grrr:). The foramen (hope that's the correct term) extends some 1 or 1-and-a-half cm at the tip of my penis - no more.

He commented on some slight inflammation. Then he described the procedure of circumcision. Really, he was quite relaxed about the whole issue of whether or not I should get it done, and said that the option was up to me. He didn't appear, from his manner, to make it out as an extremely serious or urgent issue (thank goodness).

I asked him if there was any health concern with leaving things the way they are. He said that there is a very rare, or slightly increased, risk of cancer (due to secretions or something).

He asked about pain, bleeding, sexual partners, intercourse, etc. I told him about never having any trouble at all, and told him that I wouldn't have gone 15 years of my adult life without even realising I had a problem, if I did. I told him about never having a sexual partner. He commented about risks of infection, particularly with regard to having sexual partners.

Anyways, to sum up, at the end, I just said to him that, since I'm not sexually active, and since I've never had any trouble, of any kind, that I'll just leave things the way they are.

I suppose there'll always be a slight worry at the back of mind about cancer risks.

I mean, I'm not really sure how serious a risk it is - but it has to be counterbalanced with the physical pain and emotional distress I would have if a circumcision went ahead.

If anyone has opinions, please share.

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

From my own experience, it is important for uncircumsized men to keep things as clean as possible. Are you able to retract your foreskin all the way down to the base of the head of your penis? If not, with great care and without forcing, you might want to train your foreskin to retract as much as possible in order for you to clean the area regularly. My foreskin retracts completely, and I am able to keep my entire penis clean at all times, but I know it is difficult for some men to achieve that.

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

Yep, you can train your foreskin to retract completely. And probably should.

When I was a little boy, it started to grow to my penis, and it had to be gently pulled back and cleaned every day. It didn't take me long to figure out how to vigorously pull it back myself every day and have not had problems since.

The best part is that you NEVER need lube to jack off.

Yup, i've been permanently retracted for almost two years now and i'm very happy with it. Apparently, quite a few uncut guys do it, and it's referred to as "the best of both worlds". The guys with short foreskins usually pass as cut in societies where it's common, like the US.

Not sure if your doctor talked to you about this or not, but when you get circumcised as an adult you have to wear stitches in your dick for about a week until the wound closes. During this time, you can't get an erection at all, or it'll tug on the stitches and cause pain. . .or pop. You either have to remove the stitches yourself at the right time, or go back in and have the nurse take them out for you. Most importantly: It takes a total of 4-6 weeks to recover from it, meaning that you can't masturbate or have sex AT ALL until then. In most cases, it takes about two months for all the swelling to go down completely.

So, I mean you should really think about this carefully. Is it worth it to you?

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

I also hear it's an extremely painful recovery.

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

Not sure why you went to see the doc in the first place. Did I miss something?

Anyway, unless there's a strong medical reason why you need cutting, my advice would be to leave things as nature intended. It's much nicer that way.

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

The recovery isn't very painful, it's uncomfortable, that's all.

One man who got circumcised as an adult told me that the recovery "feels like when you have a bad cut on your finger; it's sore when something touches the cut or rubs up against it, but other than that it doesn't hurt." Except. . .well. . .it isn't on your finger.

I imagine if the scar line looks bad, you could just whack off with Mederma after you're fully recovered. *|*

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

I was cut at 18, and while the healing process was uncomfortable it wasn't painful. I had to take anti-inflammatory medication for a week after to prevent random erections that would tear the stitches, and wear loose fitting underwear for a week or two. After that things were fine.

Cosmetically, it looks good. Obviously not as good as if I had been cut as a child - there are noticeable stitch marks along the suture line. This has never been an issue or been pointed out to me by partners, so I can only assume I notice it more than anyone else that is looking down there.

In terms of cleanliness, I noticed a huge improvement. There is no more accumulation of smegma, ever. Peeing is easier etc. This is purely a convenience thing for me.

Talk to your doctor about other options including stretching, dorsal slit etc. I'm not sure what your exact problem is, but circumcision isn't a cure-all. I must admit I wanted to be cut anyway so when the urologist suggested that phismosis would require a circumcision, I went with it, even though I knew there were other options available.

Do whatever is best for you. But remember, it's like a hair cut - you can always take more off but you can't put it back on ;)

Good luck!

Re: The urologist examined me, regarding my foreskin

^ wow .. a voluntary cut guy with a balanced opinion.

I've been missing one like you for the last 200 cut vs uncut threads ;)
