  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
    Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I'd rather have a job...

I was on welfare a bit. I still feel some degree of guilt and shame because I was traveling this great country, and seeing its sights. I went to the GA office in San Francisco and stood in line for two days to get certified to recieve $170 bi-weekly. This lasted a few months. Many people on welfare are in a prison of their own design. And sometimes the Norns are unkind. And sometimes it's tough all over.

Being on social welfare I didn't feel offended, but I didn't laugh either as the punchline was lame (and it took me some time to get it).

Honestly, I think it's nice I get money to survive (and Internet as my only luxury), but I'd rather have a well-paid job so I can save to get my teeth fixed and plastic surgery for other things on my body :?

Hey!

It was a "test" to see if the guy really, really meant that he wanted a job vs welfare!

Now, I'm NOT sure if he passed of NOT, 'cause when he said........BS, was he saying, I can't believe it; or NO? lol

Hey, I'd take it, wouldn't you?(*8*)(*8*):kiss::kiss:

I've seen the joke before, so I didn't really react to it this time. However, when I saw it the first time I definitely LMAO'ed.

Just because I may actually also realize right away that a joke is possibly a stereotype (as this one is), or "incorrect"/unfair in some other way, does NOT stop me from laughing if the joke is indeed truly funny.

I fully "got" the joke right away, and laughed because the punch line is SO much a surprise.
