I was watching Center Stage on ABC Family tonight and noticed that one of the classical pieces used during the final scene is a song I've been trying to identify for a long time.

For me, the song is most recognizable because it was used as the theme in Disney's Sleeping Beauty for "Maleficent's Evil Spell."

I tried finding it from Tchaikovsky's original ballet for Sleeping Beauty since the score was adapted for use for the Disney version, but to no success.

The piece is briefly in the video clip and begins playing at exactly 3:13 into the clip.

Here are the music credits, but I can't figure out which piece it is. If anyone knows, please tell me! :) It could be any of the tracks below, but some of them are less likely than others...

"Le Corsaire"
(excerpts)
Written by Adolphe Adam

"Swan Lake, Opus 20 "
(excerpts)
Written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

"La Bayadére"
(excerpts)
Written by Ludwig Minkus

"Granada, Opus 47, Nr. 1"
Written by Isaac Albéniz

"Don Quixote"
(ballet) (excerpts)
Written by Ludwig Minkus

"Adagio for a Ballet Class"
Written by Dmitry Polischuk

I was about to start the search, but I'm lazy. How about I just tell you how to go about it?

1. Go to amazon.com.
2. Do a search for "Le Corsaire" by Adolphe Adam in "Music".
3. Find a CD with that piece of music.
4. Listen to the samples.
5. If you made a match, you're done. If not, go to the next one on the list.

I'm currently doing it. But while I'm doing it, I'm trying to see if anyone happens to know the song off the top of their head. As well, Amazon only gives me about 60 seconds of each piece.

After some work, I figured out what it was, finally. But it's not even listed int he music credits of the movie!

Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Ballet, "Pas De Caractere".

Lumi,
As noted in the credits "excerpts", not the full score. The Pas de Caractere are the character dances. I think the music you are looking for is the Puss in Boots and white cat scene.

ND :)

Thanks! I found out that the Disney adaptation is almost exactly the same as the orchestral versions of Puss-In-Boots and the White Cat. In fact, I think I prefer it. But they didn't even credit The Sleeping Beauty in the movie, only Swan Lake.
