If humans became extinct, what species do you think would evolve to become the dominant life form?

I say chimps.

What say you ?

Yea,
monkeys are the closest to human species.
What if the monkeys also extinct ??

I think the top predators on any continent will be the dominant species. Wolves, bears, and big cats.

predators that can live in extreme temperature range between very hot and very cold.

There is no imperative or dictum of evolution that mandates a dominant species. It can be relevant to local areas, and without the high intellect and power resultant, I predict there would be no one dominant species. We are an exception, and there isn't any particular predecessor to us in the geological records. Types of animals have dominated, but no single species with influence similar to ours was here before.

If humans become extinct, chances are what caused that will have wiped out practically every other species. We are the TOP of the food chain, at the moment, and most dangerous animal on the planet.

Whatever took us out, including us doing it to ourselves, odds are the rest of the planet will be a total waste land.

There might be some survivors, though. Like when the dinosaurs were squashed, by whatever.

I'm betting on the cockroaches. However, it might also be the AI robots that we created.

Will it be Biology or Technology that emerges supreme?

Actually the shark is the top of the food chain.

[-X We catch, and eat, sharks, far more often than they eat us!

Nearly to the point of Them becoming extinct. #-o :slap: :(

There are over 400 species of sharks. Ten species are currently listed as Critically Endangered. Fifteen more species are listed at the lesser category of Endangered.

Whereas it is never good to pressure species, that only 5% of 440 shark species are threatened is an encouraging statistic considering how many animals on the list don't have a base of 400 species. Microhabitats are constantly changing, so it is somewhat predictable that a few species are in constant decline.

There is a tertiary category of Vulnerable, but that is not a clear peril or it would be Endangered.

Thank you for that, and Good Point! :=D: ..|

However ...

Top of the food chain is also about power. We are omnivorous, and, therefore, have the opportunity to make choices. We are intelligent enough to realize what is a more healthy diet, and are able to adopt that, or not.

We are in the position to have plants, and animals, Serve US.

We are the Dominant Species on the planet.

We are far more dangerous than any other living being, including to ourselves.

What we choose to eat, and what we can, are two different things.

I'm actually relieved we are not pursuing/enforcing/accomplishing all the damage we are capable of.

I don't know and don't care... nobody would be around to care!

Unfortunately, they're not likely to get off those lists until people change their eating habits. I'm not a fan of sharks, but to catch one, slice off its dorsal and pectoral fins, and then toss it back into the water still alive is deplorable. Do the people who eat the soup even care what they're doing?

Cockroaches for sure.

Combines two things many homos love.

Cock

Roaches.

A fitting inheritor to humans.

Male Blue Whale...then I would have one of the largest cocks on any mammal!
