If Iran deal fails, it's time to face reality

I am getting increasingly concerned by the constant runaway rhetoric I'm hearing lately by Republicans and the American right about Iran, which is beginning to have eerie similarities to late 2002 and the build-up for war against Iraq.

The ENEMY, for goodness sake, is ISIS and al-Qaeda, and if any military action is to be taken, it is against THEM, but yet there seems little talk from Fox News about them - it's ALWAYS Iran Iran Iran Iran lately, and a disturbing propagandising of 'inevitability' about tackling them as if it's a foregone conclusion.

Can someone tell me if it's accurate to describe Iran as the 'largest state sponsor of terrorism'? Surely there are individuals in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States providing just as much funding, if not more, to terrorist causes and especialy Sunni terrorist groups.

Can someone tell me WHAT terrorism Iran is apparently supporting? All the terrorism I see is coming from Sunni groups. Almost every major atrociity, including September 11, was Sunni-inspired. Whenever a bombing in the Middle East occurs with numerous dead, it is nearly always Sunni-perpetrated, and it's ordinary Shia people, in mosques and in markets, who are the innocent victims.

Yes there are Iranian-funded Shia militants, and obviously they are not very pleasant people, but one has to admit they actually are fighting against ISIS and inadvertantly helping the West tackle this problem.

It is a great shame this out-of-control rhetoric has begun, because (apart from the 2003 invasion of Iraq) I am a supporter of strong military action and a strong United States and I am usually very pro-American, but I get the sad sense that Republicans are ideologically obsessed with Iran to the detriment of any other foreign policy. WHY?

I find myself 'on side' with CE&P established opinion on this issue. Lol, oh well. :p

but I get the sad sense that Republicans are ideologically obsessed with Iran to the detriment of any other foreign policy. WHY?

It's not about Iran, or the Israelis....it's all about the Republicans rubbishing the current administration's policies...to serve an agenda that ignores the military intelligence being supplied to President Obama by The Pentagon whose advice Barack Obama is following.

I posted these words earlier in this thread:

Iran has been developing nuclear weapons for years while under UN sanctions....lifting the sanctions will change nothing...for Iran remains years away from developing a nuclear weapon....were Iran close to developing a nuclear weapon, its nuclear industry's sites would have been bombed, and destroyed. The Mossad, CIA, and MI6 maintain a close watch on Iran's nuclear weapons development.

Iran is a military partner working alongside The West, combating the rise of Islamic States....an immediate, and potent threat to the security of the Middle East.... but you already know this...

Now Boehner (gotta love spellcheck, it wants to change that to Boner :rotflmao: ) Speaker of the House, is going to sue President Obama over the Iran deal. The Republicans want a war with Iran, it is after all the plan put forth from PNAC. PNAC wanted a "new Pearl Harbor". And they got one, the 9/11 attacks. They literally want to wipe out the middle east with the exception of Israel. And don't forget this little ditty.

it is lunacy to believe the Republicans want war with Iran. They do not. The sanctions were having an effect and they believe it wrong to free up the 100 billion or so while Iran will continue to work on the bomb. The democrats want a deal just so they can say there was a deal. It is Chamberlin waiving his deal the Hitler as he gets off the plane all over again.

I'm to fucking tired. Do your own research.

You know how its not fair to blame the Germans of today, for nazism.....well that's how progress works. Chamberlain's deal was with Hitler, not with Wilhelm II, and this deal is with Rouhani, not Ahmedinijad (however thats spelt). Just because Hitler turned out to be a real bad guy, doesn't mean Rouhani is. The guy replacing Rouhani eventually....maybe he will be, maybe he won't. But you can't give up on progress. All you can do with Iran and its nuclear ambitions, is to keep a very close eye. If it steps out of line, the world is watching. Be it on their own heads and all that.

No, the sanctions were having an effect. Thatwas progress. Obama just wants to claim a deal. It will always be someone elses fault when the bomb drops. When, not if.

1. The sanctions worked only because everyone (security council +1) was on board; they've all signed onto this agreement and we'd have had nothing.
2. Tim Cotton and Cheney said war was the option..look at their success in Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, the Palestinian territories....
3. The billions belong to Iran; they are not a gift. Much of it is not under our control so see #1.
4. Ben is apparently more delusional than first thought if he thinks Republicans want peace. Countries can negotiate and come to peaceful resolutions; ask St. Reagan
