If Obama is the Democratic nominee, I'd choose _____ if I were his to be vice pres.

Re: If Obama is the Democratic nominee, I'd choose _____ if I were his to be vice pre

Powell might have been a good choice, but I think he is damaged goods after his UN case for war and would alienate some of Obama's anti-war constituency. If Hillary is "so 90's", Powell is "Desert Storm 80's". Anyway, his wife probably won't let him run, again.

The only way Obama can carry the South is if the media finds the GOP nominee in bed with a 10 y/o boy and only then if there is penetration. Southern whites will not vote for Obama. The biggest help on the Democratic ticket would be Hillary. She would pull in a lot of women voters in states where the female vote could turn the election to the Dems. I am not a Hillary fan, but I think she would help the ticket more than Biden, Dodd, Edwards or Clark. Clark's military experience would drive away the Barbra Streisand wing of the party.

I'm the Barbara Streisand wing of the party and I love Wesley Clark. He is a "smart" military man.

And this whole cant win the south talk is becoming so old school because of what is becoming the Obama phenomenon. If you cant see this is a "real" movement you arent paying attention.

Edwards was already a VP candidate, if he's the VP nominee again after runnning for President again it would be an acknowledgement by him that he's just not good enough. Besides Obama is younger than him and has served even less time in the Senate. I just don't see it.

I was half joking about Webb but if Obama is to win he is going to have to show that he can work well with the military because the big fear that the Republicans will try to exploit is that Obama won't be effective as Commander in Chief because he isn't comfortable dealing with military people, especially if their nominee is McCain. Clark would a natural complement to Obama.

Doesnt Clark have less experience than Webb?

There is an interesting blog over at DailyKos that puts forth the possibility of Colin Powell as VP.

I will read this but I have an immediate response first. As a dem and Obama supporter I would be pissed if Obama chose a republican as V.P. Why would you be going for change and then choose a republican that is from the party of no change. And you would be basically handing them the election in 8 years with a sitting vp running. And Obama is doing fine on his own at getting mod republicans and independants(as well as many many new voters).

As well as the fact that Powell lied in his speech to the UN, thus FOREVER tying himself with the Bushies, no matter how many times he may try to distance himself from them.

If Obama wins then he should go with Joe Biden, Wesley Clark and or even Hilary Clinton. He needs someone who has grasp of the world, experienced and some time in Washington. Since staying with Hilary right now but am very comfortable with Barak Obama.
