The fact that the evening news reports here are relating that many in the audience of Britney's first Australian concert walked out after no more than three songs in protest that, not only was she lip synching - she was even doing that badly. They actually showed some vision of the performance - apart from the obviously poor 'miming', she couldn't even 'dance'. She looked like an unco-ordinated heifer wobbling around totally out of time with the music.

How does she get away with it? *shakes head*

BTW, I went to Pink's concert in Perth and she was absolutely fabulous!

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of either but Pink at least seems like a real artist and not some hack who lucked into being the face on R2D2's album.

And you know that the majority of Britney fans will defend her saying that "she puts on such a great show" that they don't care if she's not singing and using a body double while she sleeps at the hotel.
 
I haven't seen any of Pink's performances recently but I've see her a few years ago on TV and she was dancing well and singing live. She seems more real and less manufactured than Britney and actually seems like she is in control of her career

she never did and she never will so you know that you get lip synching when buy a ticket for a concert of hers, so i dont understand all the hype about it Oo
 
Because Pink is, for lack of better term, a musician. She writes songs and gets involved in their production and performs them live (albeit almost certainly with backing tracks).

And Britney is, for lack of better term, an entertainer. Her musicianship is completely irrelevant to her product. People buy her music because they like HER.

Britney's last album outsold Pink's something on the order of two to one, and Britney's tickets outsell Pink's, as well. The real question should be - why is PINK bothering to work so hard?

Sounds very media-beat-up to me. Artists have been lip-syncing for years. I've seen Kylie a couple of times, and while she does sing live, most of her songs are double-tracked with one or two recorded Kylie vocals so they sound fatter and more impressive. That's a very common practice.

Someone from an Australian record company told me that Boney M did an Australian tour in the 70s and didn't even bother to plug their microphones in at most concerts. Some things never change...

It was not the triumphant return Britney Spears had hoped for.

Disgruntled fans stormed out of last night’s Australian debut of The Circus concert in Perth, upset by the star’s miming and “appalling” performance on stage.

They began walking out after just three songs, some having paid $200 to see Spears perform.

“It was just really bad,’’ Kathy Wright,32, said.

“She has not spoken, there is no interaction.”

Friend Josh Blee said: “We are really big Britney fans but it was cr-p.”

I don't particularly like Madonna - but she's a 50 year old woman who apparently can still put on a high energy and genuinely live show. Pink is a talented songwriter, performer AND entertainer - and she can certainly cut it live. Even Kylie actually can (& does) sing live. As another comparison, Beth Ditto (Gossip) is a very large, I imagine technically morbidly obese, performer who sings her lungs out and gives it her (considerable ;)) all - nothing 'morbid' about her performance, energy or effort.

Britney is an overmarketed and undertalented 'product'. Her record are overproduced and only sound acceptable because of multi tracking and technical tweaking. She can't cut it as a 'singer' - if she could ever 'dance' she can't do that very well any more. Her management won't allow 'big screen close ups' ('cos they know how bad she looks?)

Someone earlier referred to her as an 'entertainer' - sorry - but how is that 'entertainment'? Bad, bad, bad - and she is deservedly copping a hammering from Australian fans and media as a result. The reports from the second concert (on this morning's news) were just as derogatory, if not worse, than the first.

I would never have paid to see her anyway (you'd have to pay me to sit through it) but I can understand people being upset. Aussie fans are accustomed to people who can (& DO) put on good live performances - and love those (like Pink, who has been enthusiastically 'adopted' by Australia) who deliver. Britney couldn't even deliver a bloody pizza...

'Tis true .... Miss Minogue is a pip squeak singer with a pip squeak voice who relies completely on lavish choreography, costuming and staging to make an impact.

And when she talks she speaks with that affected accent!!! She's a complete fraud!

Then perhaps Australian fans have a different set of standards than American fans. I remember when Britney was first attempting to launch her comeback (post-hair shaving, I think), and she did some small "intimate" shows for fan club members only. The few press people who managed to see the gigs told of her attempting to sing live on a few numbers, and not succeeding well at all, as well as doing a few perfunctory dance moves (again, not too successfully). But although a few fans griped at having to pay over $100 to see a one-hour performance, most found it absolutely amazing. "Britney's back, bitch!" was the most common refrain.

Had these Australian shows been in America, you'd be seeing a LOT of JUBbers saying how amazing they were. :)

Um...Listen! Everybody need to back off Britney spears. White people just hate her. Its not her faught that she is a millionaire, beautiful and talented. All of you just mad cause she is about the only white girl can dance. I guaranteed yall cant even get dragged around stage like her. Britney is an entertainer. Everybody needs to back off. Haters ....Damn! yall make me fuckin sick!
