What would you do? If you were a magical Gypsy who could fly and be invisible and nobody could kill you. Those who disobeyed you...you could kill them with your magical powers...so basically your orders will be obeyed, those who disobey will die or whatever you want.

I would force the U.S. to change it's name to Human Land and all other English speaking countries would join.
English would change it's name to Humanish.
The concept of nationality seems pointless.
Every other country would adopt English as it's official language...seriously why do we have to waste our time learning another language...there is much more useful things you can be learning.
Science for example....do you even relaize how important science is? It changes the way you view life.

Then the whole world will be called Human Land and we will speak Humanish.

You might be full of crap and saying learning other languages is fun but then again you can travel and learn other languages while the people speaking that language have a shitty life and live in a poor country.

This would be the main thing I would change.

I would end capitalism, then watch civilization collapse to a more manageable size over time before I would make any further edicts. I'd also end unverifiable theism - if you cannot prove with irrefutable evidence (and not rely solely on thought experiments) that your god exists, then you cannot have a religion which focuses or includes that god. You would also have to prove that your god is a god and not just some chump in a stupid hat.

If I could control this world, I'd be overthrown in days, maybe hours. In the meantime, I'd grab for myself a small island with a nice place on the beach, a Maserati, a nice cabinet of wine and Ryan Conners. Maybe to top it all off, a good cook to keep me fed. For the most part, I disagree with a lot of what the original poster has said.

Take a good look at English, as a language. It has evolved so much over the years, and part of that is due to the richness of other languages. The word Terror, for example, is derived from French. And many of our other words come from Latin, Germanic, and other origins.

The richness of other languages is something to be greatly appreciated, and not frowned upon. Currently, I'm unilingual; in that I only speak and read English, but I do plan on changing that in the years to come. My boyfriend can read and speak Japanese, Russian, and is taking a French course later this year...

If you truly want the human race to come together, a universal language isn't the way to go, as there is so much that can not be expressed in English, but that can be in another language.

Right, well, that's my language defense...

Now, as to the question.

For the most part, I would be a rather benevolent leader. Since I'm apparently immortal and all-powerful, I would disband standing armies and take on sole responsibility for protection of Earth.

A new nation would be created, encompassing all current nations, but outside of a centralized government, nothing else would change. A comprehensive legislature would be established, where motions could be introduced and debated, but ultimately I would have the final word on what does and does not happen.

Social programs, like health care and university, would be provided to all free of cost.

I must admit, there are a few malevolent acts I would undertake. The destruction of all organized religions, to be replaced with a system of virtues that would make suggestions on how one should lead their life, as opposed to be finite rules that one must obey.

Certain people, if they were still alive when I would take over, would be summarily executed for crimes they perpetrated before the new world order. In this category, I would put:
-Homophobes, who were actively violent towards the community
-Anyone from the former world who used a position of power to lie to their citizens; to advance their own power at the cost of others; and anyone who simply worked against the advancement of progress for purely ideological reasons

I'm sure there would be others, who if they were unrepentant about their past, that would be added to that list.

After that, the citizens of the world would be free to pursue whatever they like, provided that they remain at peace with one another, and do not violate the 'Harm Principle'.

For those unfamiliar, John Stuart Mill philosophized that an action is only acceptable when it produces the greatest benefit with the least amount of harm. This is the harm principle, and it would be the cornerstone of the new world order.

1. Define "person", for political purposes, as a living, breathing entity with a pulse, who is or is eligible to become a voter, and limit all political contributions and activities to such persons, or organizations of such persons formed so that political activity is a major purpose..

2. Presumption of individual liberty: in all cases, all law at all levels shall be interpreted in a way that upholds or extends individual liberty; whatever interpretation most favors individual liberty will prevail.

3. No one can be elected to a government position unless he/she has worked for at least the number of years of the envisioned term, in the private sector. The total number of years in office may not exceed the total years worked in the private sector. Being a lawyer, corporate PR person, or lobbyist does not count.

4. A one-time levy of 10% of everyone's net worth, less a $50k deduction, the proceeds to pay down the national debt, starting with loans from foreign entities.
Well, maybe that doesn't need to be in the Constitution.

5. Congress shall make no law concerning personal crimes, except such as involve crossing state lines by the perpetrators, or involve transgressing the individual liberties of others. (This will eliminate a great deal of federal law).

6. Congress shall make no law defining any action as a crime, where such action has no victim.

7. No person or legal entity may be bequeathed more than one million times the minimum wage, or other standard of value of a basic unit of labor, by one individual or legal entity.

8. All receipts of royalties and other payments for use of natural resources, and fines levied on individuals and other legal entities, which may be received by the United States treasury, shall be distributed evenly to all registered voters of the United States, once every odd-numbered year.


That would be more than enough for one year. On a private level, I'd have research initiated to find a way to triple the incidence of homosexual orientation in the populace, and the incidence of bisexual orientation.
